Christmas classics!
I bought the “like new” blu-ray discs from Veterans which arrived promptly and as described, thank you! Also, please note some reviewers remarked about the shows being full screen without the reverse black sides, but the blu-ray discs are NOT full screen, however, they are HD and excellent quality! Only the regular DVD discs (which I also ordered for my regular dvd devices) take up the whole screen but blu-ray doesn’t as if would have lost some HD quality if stretched beyond its original format and probably why it isn’t. Hope this helps.

These actually have closed captions!
I have purchased – and returned – several different ‘Christmas Classics’ sets put out by this company – all of them claimed to have closed captions but didn’t. This one does! The Little Drummer Boy has been very hard to find captioned, which is why I ordered this.My quick thoughts on the contents:- Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer – 5 stars! The first Christmas special ever on American broadcast television. It is fantastic. Apparently people are upset right now because Santa and most of the reindeer are bullies and bigots. They are – that is the point of the story. In fact, Santa is a real jerk. They are all humbled and learn their lesson by the end of the show, which again is the point. I am completely baffled by the criticism – maybe some people don’t want to see bullies and bigots learn, grow and change and would only be happy if they were skinned alive in slow-motion. In any case, this one deserves its ‘classic’ status. It’s wonderful. The Little Drummer Boy – 5 stars! This one is not as well known, but it is fabulous. Aaron, the drummer boy, is a great character who understandably hates everyone. The show puts a different spin on the Christmas message – rather than ‘peace on earth, good will to men’ the focus is on an encounter with God transforming a person’s pain and hate into love. This one should be in the classic canon with Rudolf, Charlie Brown & the Grinch.Frosty the Snowman – haven’t seen it for 30 years or so but remember it being pretty good.Santa Claus is Coming to Town – again, haven’t seen it for 30 years or so. I remember it being fun with good music and not as unforgettable as my favorites – Rudolf, Charlie Brown, The Grinch & Drummer Boy.Cricket on the Hearth – the reviews I have read for this are so bad that I will probably never bother to watch it.

Just like the old days
The Rudolph and Frosty shows are identical to the originals from what I can remember. Glad to see these are still available for newer generations to experience

5 Movie, 4 Blu Ray Disc Set is good but not great
1st let me tell you THESE have not been cleaned up or re-mastered, since the same quality of film they have been showing on TV for 50 years. With that said, the 1080p quality is way better than previous 480i TV showings or the 480p DVD releases. I give it 4 stars, 3 stars for the video/audio quality and 5 stars for the extra’s and releasing these 4 movie classics on blu ray. Yeah your really only getting 4 true classic movies, the 5th one Cricket on the Hearth, not only it’s not a classic, but it’s the newer 2D animation similar to Saturday morning cartoons, just horrible. The stop action animation on the other classics are great, the 2D on frosty is ok. For the sale price I paid for the 4 disc/5 movie set well worth it, just to have it on a high quality physical medium.
