Generations of American children sat in dark classrooms and absorbed wisdom in the form of 16mm educational films. Through the flicker of dim projector bulbs and the warble of optical soundtracks a blueprint for better living in the Atomic Age was spelled out in no uncertain terms. Fantoma presents this collection of patriotic films and Cold War classics. Revel in the American way of life, get a glimpse at vintage Homeland Security and learn what you can do for your country in such films as: Day of Thanksgiving, Duck & Cover, Red Nightmare, and You Can Change The World (featuring Bob Hope & Jack Benny!)

Super Fun Viewing…Unless You Are a Communist!!!!
An excellent assortment of campy civics class classics! Most of these were originally shown in grade school classrooms between the 1940’s and 1970’s, to instill a strong sense of patriotism. The 1945 film, “Despotism” is definitely kinda scary as many of the warning signs of looming fascism are clearly present in our current society. “200” is a super cool psychedelic cartoon with a groovy 1970’s funk soundtrack created to commemorate the bicentenial. The Bob Crane short where he talks about patriotism, and how we can show our love for one another is really weird when one considers the manner of his death. “Duck & Cover” and “Red Nighmare” are classic Cold War propaganda and definitely make for fun viewing! The DVD contains about 12 films, running around 3 hours total. I paid $1.75 plus shipping for this DVD, and it is well worth the price! It’s great for:1) Classroom use for history or civics lessons2) Fun viewing at Memorial Day or 4th of July parties3) People who enjoy campy shtick! There are 8 DVDs in the Fantoma Educations Archive Series: 1) On the Job 2) Patriotism 3)Religion 4)Drivers Ed 5) Sex & Drugs 6) More Sex & Drugs 7) Social Engineering 101 8) Social Engineering 201All of these videos are great and worth owning (especially because most of them can be purchased for under $5)

Required viewing for all true American Patriots!
Watching this DVD brought back memories of “Duck and Cover” drills of my childhood. Some of the films are quaint, some charming, some funny. A few are scary…especially “Despotism”, made in 1945, at the end of WW2. This 10 minute film systematically compares the characteristics of a free, democratic society, with those of a police state. Watching it now, in the era of the Patriot Act, etc. made me shiver with how chillingly close the USA is coming to this film’s description of despotism. It must be seen to be believed!
