    Repurposed with new cover art
First, as much as I hate to have to say this, this is NOT associated with Friday the 13th, the movies. This is a little confusing, however, as the product page does not have an relevant information added here, plus the creators of the show originally reworked the title ‘The 13th Hour’ and instead used ‘Friday the 13th’ to draw viewership. This is a Canadian-American horror series that premiered on October 3rd, 1987, and that ran until May 26th, 1990. It was an interesting run , in my opinion, that adding elements like moral decisions, character demise, and so on, along with a lot of horror tropes reminiscent of tales like “The Monkey’s Paw.’ Granted, it does not have a conclusive ending, but does have some interesting items, ideas, and themes throughout. It is very reflective of the time as well and has aged well in my opinion, with a lot of schlocky effects, dialog, and dress that really make you say, ‘nice.’The description from IMBD, for further clarification:An old antique dealer made a pact with the Devil to sell cursed antiques. When he dies, his store is inherited by his niece Micki and her cousin Ryan. With the help of Jack Marshak, they fight to retrieve the antiques from the people who bought them to stop them from causing harm.As noted by others, this is a rerelease of existing materials with new boxing/casing. The set comprises a total of 72 episodes within it and is currently listing for just over 33 dollars, which is a great deal in my opinion. Comparatively, the last set released at 3x the cost, and the cover art on that release is either something you love or hate, depending on how you view the crowded effects. Personally, I like them both for different reasons, with the older one giving you and item overview but with this set giving you a nice, minimal look that does not look like a network overview of a bunch of shows when viewed from afar (check out the older one – it really does look like that).Spec-wise, this is Box set, Color, Full Screen, NTSC, just like the former set, and it comes in at 17 discs, just like it.I am rating this as though you do NOT own it. If you do, this is the same material revisited, so whether or not new cover art is worth it – that is up to you.

    Packaging was fine
I’m writing this to those who might be on the fence due to other comments about the packaging and discs potentially arriving damaged. I had no such problems. The multi-disc case arrived in great condition (North Carolina). Only the first disc popped off the little nub inside the case. It played just fine with zero freezes, skips or other glitches. These DVDs aren’t the highest picture quality, but they were shot by some second-tier Canadian company back in the 1980s so expectations weren’t high in the first place. I was 14 back in 1987 (first season) and this series definitely takes me back. There was so much that I forgot, and several episodes I never saw. (Louise) Robey was definitely something to behold as Mickey.

    C’mon, u know it’s not related to Jason Voohees…
I couldn’t wait till I received this in the mail!! First of all, to the brain dead people who think/thought this is related to the Friday the 13th (Jason Voorhees) films have been living under a rock to not at least read what the series was about. 2nd, the reviews Ive read are ridiculous when there are some ppl who complain about the acting and so on. It was an excellent tv show that had excellent stories and characters to boot. The bad reviews are from ppl who obviously didn’t like the show from the beginning.I remember this show premiering the same night that Freddy’s Nightmares premiered. To me FN was the flop which was a surprise as I am huge Freddy fan. Ultimately, Friday the 13th the series was what i kept watching till it ended. The show really took some chances with the satanic episodes being really blasphemous. Many tv shows werent doing those types of story lines. That was what attracted me the most. The only scary thing about this whole ordeal would be the cheap plastic case that holds all these discs. I would pay a few dollars extra for a case befitting of such a kick a#* show.

I received this in the mail, of course the discs were loose, but still playable, the case design is a leaflet style, but its not attached to anything, so you have these discs flopping around during transit getting all loose, and causing abrasion on the disc. Do yourself a favor and buy the individual seasons. They are packaged properly. I actually just photo copied the front and back cover and transferred each disc to a single dvd case to prevent further damage. The moron who thought this was good packaging at CBS should be fired.

If u enjoyed the series when it aired u will enjoy seeing the entire series in one large complete box set.The picture is not the best quality so definitely not digitally remastered. I think it’s a transfer from vhs to DVD.
