Multiplatinum LA rock band The Go-Go’s candid, universally acclaimed documentary directed by Allison Ellwood. The archive-rich project assesses their place in music history and offers full access to The Go-Go’s, including past members & longtime members of their inner circle. Have a newfound respect for them
Was good – not a huge fan, but always incredibly interested in the music industry, and they paid their dues and happy they’re finally getting the recognition that they deserve. The only negative for me – is to hear one of their members talk about how Punk Rock was born in England, and that England is “Mecca” as far as Punk Rock goes is utter nonsense.I believe the Ramones had three albums out by the time The Sex Pistols released their first record. Punk Rock was born in New York with The Ramones and The Dictators. I would assume that aspiring Punk musicians would know that.

    They’ve got the beat
As a Gen X’er, I grew up with MTV, and the Go-Go’s were a massive part of that experience. As a pre-teen/teen boy, the Go-Gos were amongst my first crushes, alongside Joan Jett and…well, Olivia Newton John, but please don’t judge me for that (she was ADORABLE in Xanadu!). As a budding musician as well, their tunes were catchy and great for doing covers of. Any way you slice it, the Go-Gos were omnipresent for myself and a lot of others of the late 70s/80s era. Anyone who denies their place in rock history is clueless. And can we all just admit that Jane was, and still is the cutest member? Ok, maybe that last one was a bit biased but…come on…Jane Wiedlin y’all. She’s THE BEST!!!

    the Go-Go’s?
Yes, THE Go-Go’s. This documentary is informative, funny, inspirational, emotional, and most of all, just a simply fun watch. The power of music is strong. The power to bring people together, the power to rip them apart. This film completely showcases both. Growing up in the 80’s, the Go-Go’s were one of the top bands I loved to listen to. Punk wasn’t part of my vocabulary at 6 years old, but it was in my soul and this band definitely brought that out in me. It was the perfect mesh of punk meets pop and I feel a good part of the 80’s was built around their sound and looks. So whether you like the Go-Go’s, 80’s pop/punk/LA scene music, or just enjoy music and documentaries, this is a must watch.

Most Successful All-Girl Band – Amazing Story
Most Successful All-Girl Band – Amazing Story. Key is “all girl” band. The video discussed their history how they got together, the issues and drama within the band, break up, fight over money/ music credits: Their Lips Were Not Sealed. Music through out the video. Amazing how they made it through what they did. Highly recommend.

Loved this documentary And…. They Got the Beat
Fun and interesting documentary about the GoGos. They were a big part of what made the 80s music so fun, upbeat, the look and sound. They started early on with punk rock and moved on to 80s music, MTV and more. And that they had similar band issues as so many other bands, such as issues with drugs, who is paid more, etc.

more emphasis on beginings and shifting personnel rather than the music. Could have done with more consert footage.Overall a disappointment.
