You cannot go wrong with this audio interface
I bought this interface in January 2021. I have used it for for guitars plugged directly into the interface, and I have used it with Shure SM57 and SM58 microphones. I have been very happy with the sound quality, the ease of use, the reliability, and pretty much everything else about this interface. I have moved it all over my house and taken a few places in my backpack with no problems.I bought this interface because I wanted something that would be easy to adjust while playing a guitar or keys in low lighting. The Air interface has a giant knob to control the monitor volume, and the input knobs are easy to see and far enough apart that I can grab one without bumping the other. Everything is very spread out, and I can do what I need to do without thinking too much about the interface.I am going to upgrade to an interface with two mic inputs in the next few months. I have looked at the Air 192|6, which has two mic inputs, but am still undecided. I have been happy with the 192|4, but the new Focusrite 2i2 has some cool features and the UA Volt comes with a lot of good plugins. The Air interfaces come with some nice plugins, but they are the same ones you get for free with pretty much every other MIDI controller: MPC Beats (always free), Ableton Live Lite, Mini Grand, DB33, etc. I’d be way more excited if their interfaces came with a choice of a free plugin, because Air makes a lot of amazing effects and instruments. On a side note, if you a just getting into music production and MIDI controllers, I can’t recommend Ableton Live Lite enough. It’s a great choice for newbies, because there are so many how-to videos on YouTube.TLDR: this a very solid interface that does everything well

The M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface is exactly what I searched for at a good price.
The M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface fit my needs perfectly. I searched for awhile, fretting between this dual channel model and the FocusRite Scarlett solo channel, which cost around $30 more. I’m relatively new to recording and editing music, also learning the open-source free software from Audacity (not provided by M-Audio) at the same time. This M-Audio pairs up with a self-designed and built lapsteel guitar that runs through a bunch of mid-priced pedals. The signal exits a DI (direct in) box via XLR cable and then pumps into a 2000’s 175 watt JBL pro stage monitor/amp (15 in woofer, ported midrange and a peaky tweeter when up close; found two at Goodwill)) that is monitored by the The M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface. My laptop and the Audacity software handle the processing, recording and editing chores. The signal (all quiet and clean throughout the whole hardware/software interface) is returned to the JBL (the amp has two 1/4 inputs and one each XLR in and out) in a loving manner with great sound. In fact, I can run my Beat Buddy Mini 2 drum pedal directly through it on a separate channel OR record it in the mix. Between the pre-amped DI box, the Crystal pre-amp in the The M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface, and the JBL amp, there is plenty of power for sound! I’ve also used it to successfully pull backing tracks from online sources. I’m stoked! The slightly less fantastic: As others have noted, the input channel pots do not have a well-designed linear taper, so the signal is almost all or none (mine mostly sits at the 9 to 9.5 point) so clipping is hard to avoid. Add in the worn-out pots in the JBL (will replace shortly) with high power and I’m just a bit frustrated. So far I’m able to compensate in editing. Ease-of-setup, near-perfect interface with Audacity and Windows 11, low-noise high-performance output and a budget-friendly price have really set the The M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface in a class by itself! Note: I do not play professionally, gig, or leave the house with this so I can’t attest to its durability or suitability for rough situations.

Awesome, but already limited, hum… (updated)
I use this with an older Catalina Mac, and Mainstage 3. The Mac and mainstage recognized it right away. I didn’t have to install any software, but the package did say where you could find the latest drivers if needed. It only has 1/4 in output Jack’s. I tried to use both at the same time one for piano and one for guitar to go to our soundboard separately… won’t work I tried panning one left and the other right… idk why it didn’t work (see updated below). Mainstage can tell though not allowing the guitar sounds come through when on a piano set and the other way around and I can get them close with the independent volume controls on the box and Mainstage.I am getting some humming though even through a direct box… not unbearable, but not ideal for recording.(Update)I am now able to correctly use the L and R outputs and pan my instruments. The issue was a faulty direct box not this product.

    Recommended for traveling musicians!
I am in love with this for two main reasons:1) I am away from the majority of my music equipment, so this is perfect for me as the start of a portable studio; it fits in your backpack or travel quite easily.2) It functions perfectly; I’ve never had trouble with any input/output issues, and it I have, it’s good enough that I don’t know it yet.Highly recommended as a backup interface to your main one!

    Great little audio input device.
In the past I had a large home studio with all sorts of stuff. I sold everything but regretted selling my Apogee audio interface, I could only lay down a track with Mac mics and speakers, the result was not good. I decided to buy a new input device but couldn’t justify spending hundreds on it. I stumbled on this perfect two input M-Audio audio interface and immediately bought it, I owned many M-Audio devices and was happy with their performance. This unit is no exception, it is the perfect songwriters tool or excellent for doing quick demos, acoustic or the whole band. I plugged it in my Mac and it instantly worked and with decent mic the sound was great. I’ve never bought an audio interface that was this easy to install, plug it in and you’re done. I highly recommend this unit for anyone that needs a simple easy to install audio interface.
