WOW! A Lot of Great Material in a Short Space
I love the approach taken in this book. It is very succinct but provides everything a beginner needs (and a little more). I took music theory through numerous books as I learned piano as a child. I added a couple more instruments (guitar and baritone) along the way just for fun. However, I never improved on my music theory. This was a great review and I learned a lot that I had forgotten. Highly recommended.

I Believe in Theory…
I am a believer in music theory. It is interesting and is the language of Western music. Players who don’t know music point out that guys like Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, and Eric Clapton, could not read music. I can assure that all of them had people who could write under their employ. The Best Music Theory Book for Beginners is as advertised. Maybe not the best, but very good. I have not read all the books, yet. If you want to learn music theory, necessary for piano, and helpful for wannabe guitar players like me. I am unusual as I am musically literate but play nothing. This book, paper bound and very text book in look and feel. The book takes you from knowing nothing through the theory that will make you better at theory than, well, Paul McCartney. Hey, that is something! The reason this book, has a work book, as well, is good is because it is to text book ‘like’. A number of books, like techies, don’t understand their audience. The writers assumes knowledge that does not exist in beginners, and that causes frustration. Start with first chapter and put in the effort. You won’t regret it.

Sharp G
I took music in school, one semester (lol), so this was a real eye opener: I never knew about pulse, beat though I knew about rhythm. This is a book I will have to seat down to study again in the future, but I was glad to have my hands on it

Tons of great information
This book was really helpful, and the author put it together in a manner that was easy for me to digest. I do think I would need more then just this one book, but this is great start. Honestly, for the price – you can’t beat it. Well-written and clearly knows their stuff.

Music Theory
Although I’ve been singing for years, I know little about music theory, which makes it difficult to sing with a band. Glad to have found this book. It’s a well-designed, easy-to-follow music theory book for beginners.

I wish I had this book when I started studying music! I guess at that time there were no color books, that make this book more intuitive and easier. It refreshed my memories and I’m considering starting playing my instrument again
