From New York Times best-selling author Corinne Michaels comes a heartbreakingly beautiful stand-alone story about letting love in.

I’m losing myself trying to save everyone else….

As a doctor, I walk a dangerously delicate balance of being compassionate but not overly invested. The same is true in my personal life – love is a luxury I can’t afford.

It isn’t until Dr. Westin Grant breaks down all my walls and offers me a future, I find myself wondering if I’m brave enough to risk my heart.

When who I was and who I’ve tried to become collide during my clinical trial, the fate of one patient changes everything.

In a single moment, everything I’ve worked for is jeopardized. My integrity, my career, and even my relationship with Westin.

He loved me once. I just hope he can love me always.

    Powerful, emotional, absolutely unforgettable story!
“There are times in life when you need the loving arms of a man who never fails you—and this is one.”Powerful, emotional, absolutely unforgettable. This standalone medical drama romance gave me all the Grey’s Anatomy vibes and the rollercoaster of angst and drama that I love. Dr. Serenity Adams is about to start a trial for her breakthrough treatment for cancer patients, the pinnacle of her career and the best way to honor her mothers memory. Serenity has lost a lot over the years but being a doctor is as fulfilling and at times heartbreaking as she imagined. Never letting her own emotions get in the way of treating her patients, that is until the past comes back and everything she has dedicated her life to saving comes in jeopardy.“Time heals all wounds, but when you’re fighting a broken clock, each second counts.”A story of unthinkable choices, where morals are fighting for what is right, and what happens when your heart gets in the way. Every decision we make has a consequence, some good, some bad and this story definitely had me wondering what I would do if I were in Serenity’s shoes. Along with the medical drama aspect there is the romance that she shares with a fellow Doctor, Westin. While she has let him into her bed, her heart is something she guards with everything she has. Westin was so thoughtful and kind and extremely patient with her heart, he really was the bright spot in her life and this story. I would definitely swoon over a doctor and man like Westin, one of the good ones, Serenity was lucky to have him in her corner. I did the audiobook and the narration really upped the emotional aspect, I definitely cried and had my heart put through the wringer but this is an absolutely beautiful story and I highly recommend if you are a fan of angst and drama!

    Good read
If it takes you 2 years to figure out your in love with someone after your life explodes around you epically. Then your not really in love your just comfortable in your relationship. Wes and Rens relationships didn’t seem to have the same Intensity as Bryce and Ren.

    An undecisive emotional rollercoaster!
To love someone and have to hold back because they are holding back emotionally is extremely hard. This is Westin with Serenity. He’s pushing forward towards more. Westin is a doctor in the same hospital as Serenity. To love deeply and break up will ruin a person if you let it; This is Serenity with Bryce. She was just starting to get emotionally healed to have Bryce come into her life again through Bryce’s wife. Serenity is a gynecologist oncologist. To have loved someone and broken up and it almost destroyed you, and then someone picked up the pieces. This is Bryce with Allison. He’s married to her and loves her. There was never closure between Bryce and Allison. This is not exactly a triangle romance. I must say that it’s a brilliant written one. Realization on Serenity’s love for Westin comes slowly after her dad and her best friend give her some well informed knowledge. All kinds of emotions are involved, deceit to a point, and owning up to your mistakes. Corinne you’ve done it again! This is a different storyline which is refreshing. Certain parts just broke my heart. I’ll be looking forward to your next book, for sure.

“You gave me everything and then somehow managed to give me even more.”
This book destroyed me, and I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. So much heartbreaking loss, but the underpinnings of family, redemption, unconditional love and second chances are what make this such an extraordinary read.Dr. Serenity Adams had her heart broken long ago, both by her mother’s lost battle with ovarian cancer and by her first love. But these tragedies made her into a driven, dedicated oncologist, and she’s determined to do for other women what she couldn’t do for her mother – help them beat this terrible disease. Just when it seems like her dreams will come true with a new clinical trial she’s leading, everything in her life falls apart, starting with a ghost from her past invading the life she’s worked so diligently to create.Westin Grant is every Dr. McDreamy and Dr. McHottie you’ve ever known, combined. Gifted surgeon with a heart of gold, he’s waited two long years for Serenity to drop her walls and see him as more than a friend with benefits. He wants nothing more than to be the rock she can lean on, if she’ll just let him in.I don’t even know where to start with this one. Prepare to be drowned in waves of emotion and have your heart strings masterfully manipulated. With perfectly imperfect characters, nothing about this story is manufactured or contrived, and angstaholics will savor and delight in all these feels. Yes, it’s clever, witty, and steamy, but it’s the abundance of heart that makes this a truly spectacular, unforgettable read. Add it to your TBR now because you won’t want to miss it!

Interesting storyline with lots of emotions
Serenity experienced loss when she lost her Mom to cancer, which resulted in further loss when her Dad and brother fell apart. At the same time, her first and only love walked away and left her even more devastated. Fourteen years later, Serenity is a successful doctor. She has never gotten over the loss of Bryce, that long ago lost boyfriend. She lives her life never fully giving herself to anyone for fear of losing them. This is a story that has a lot of facets to it. On the surface It’s about a smart, strong and independent woman, but under it all, she is really insecure and vulnerable. Fate has a way of being a nasty bitch because Bryce reenters Serenity’s life in the most cruel way. And her world starts to spiral out of control. Read it and experience a roller coaster ride that is her life. And a final note; I LOVED Westin, the man currently in Serenity’s life.

“𝙄’𝙢 𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙧 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙞𝙧𝙡 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚.”I started this book on a recommend from sarahluvsromance_1201 – Let me just say, when this mama gives her love for a book like she did this one, you damn well read the book!Dr. Serenity “Ren” Adams is a Gynecological Oncologist. She is married to her job; to the hospital and has always worked hard for the life she lives. All she wants is to find a cure for ovarian cancer; after all, it turned her life upside down when she lost her mother to it. The reason why she does what she does.Dr. Westin Grant is the head of Neurosurgery. He is kind, confident – but above all, he is patient. He has the biggest heart, and is behind Ren with all that he has. They are seeing each other but unofficially – he has chased her for two years. And then, Serenity’s past crashes back into her life in the most unexpected way.“…𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣’𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙮 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙮 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙. “This is my first by Corrine Michaels, and I didn’t know what to expect going into this. There are things I want to share and say, but won’t for fear of spoiling it. It was so very raw and so emotional. The flashbacks were full of torturous slow burn and the storyline was just perfection. You feel it in your soul. This book hurt. The whole book hurt – but it hurt so good.Serenity is human. And we as humans sometimes have difficult choices to make; we have pasts, we make mistakes – and sometimes, it affects us more than we’d like to admit.“𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜, 𝙄 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙮 𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙨𝙤 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜.”“…𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣, 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙄 𝙛𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙚, 𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙪𝙥.”

This was such an emotionally, beautiful story. How your past can come back and slap you in the face and make you regret the decisions you made. How the one perfect person for you is right in front of you, if you just open your eyes. To me, this was about how living in the past, letting if affect your decisions, can possibly destroy your future. To me this was a story of self discovery first and then about love. To me this story was beautiful… Thank you for this story Ms. Corrine Michaels. I can honestly say that I think this has been one of my most favourite books so far this year (even though it made me cry). I will most definitely need tho get a physical copy to add to my collection of favourites.

This was a lovely story, quite emotional at times. I’d quite like a Doctor Westin of my own. Wasn’t entirely enamoured with his big idea in the epilogue. To me it just didn’t fit the vibe. But that won’t take away from how much I liked the book.
