This book is written in an easy to understand way. As an aspiring screenwriter looking to get my foot in the door with the MOW this book has helped carve a path that gives a bit more depth then the film school classes that lightly cover the subject. Roslyn Muir is a great wordsmith, teacher, screenwriter and author. She makes learning fun and interactive and this book showcases all of that. The stylistic cover is a great catch that grabs you into the book. If you want to get into screenwriting and write the movies you see on hallmark and lifetime then this book is a must have!

After writing âspecâ features for some time, I took the fork in the road that led to TV movies. Iâm a sucker for a âmovie-of-the-weekâ, as they used to be called. Buzzing with ideas and keen to jump in, I was delighted to come across this book from a credited writer, who knows her way through what was new ground for me.Iâm a fiend for structure, so the formatting required for this type of script was right up my street. Clearly defined acts make it so much easier to keep the plots of both thrillers and rom-coms on track. No more scrolling through pages and pages to insert that vital clue I forgot in my enthusiastic gallop toward the end credits!Having this book in my library, Iâll feel far more confident when querying and pitching in the future..

I really enjoyed this book. It was to-the-point and delivered knowledge that even seasoned screenwriters don’t know. Best for tv writers who want to enter the world of romantic Christmas movies (a la Hallmark) or women-led thriller movies. Great tips and a bonus is that it isn’t a difficult read! Excellent work!
