A fast, easy, and accurate way to prepare taxes … but not fool proof if one is not careful …
TurboTax by Intuit provides excellent tax preparation software. I have been using TurboTax Premier for years and the 2023 Tax Software, Federal & State Tax Return, like previous years, provides a fast and relatively easy way for me to prepare my Federal and State taxes.That said, I believe it is a mistake for someone unfamiliar with tax preparation to think they can just get a tax package such as this one — or any other of which I know — and just complete their tax return without any knowledge of taxes or without ever having successfully done them manually. Taxes can be quite complicated, and if you answer a question incorrectly, or misinterpret an instruction, your taxes might be compromised. In my opinion, the goal of TurboTax and other tax packages is to provide a fast, easy, and accurate way to do taxes — it is not intended to be a course in tax preparation.I am disappointed that this year users are required to create an Intuit account. Not only that, but the process was not easy or flawless … I never received an account verification email and after several frustrating attempts, had to choose a different option. I did not see this new requirement on the product packaging and only discovered it after purchasing the software and installing it. Previous years, creating an Intuit account was optional.I do recommend TurboTax and I intend to purchase it again. For me, it is a timesaver and gives me added confidence in the accuracy of my return.

A bit of cheaper than Intuit official site and easy to install. I just regret that I didn’t get one from Costco earlier.

Turbo Tax gets better every year!
You’ll find Turbo Tax easy to use, accurate (never makes math mistakes!), and will create you federal tax return , but ONLY IF YOU KEEP ACCURATE AND COMPLETE RECORDS ALL YEAR LONG!They do ask questions in a very friendly manner if you use the Step-by-Step method, and they tell you which things are not very common and which are important.Or, you can switch back and forth to the “Forms” method where you know which form to use and you can type in your own entries.One of the best features of Turbo Tax is that every entry of data will immediately UPDATE the entire tax return as appropriate! For example, you won’t have to go back and change gross income if you put more rental income from a rental house, or add another 1099 or W-2. And you won’t have to change the tax due or refund due if you toss in some more deductions on Schedule A.Of course, the end result is a very professional package of tax return (mine sometimes runs more than 100 pages — I’m into everything the IRS wants to know about!) and Intuit will send it in electronically for free!If you live in a state that has state income tax, this Premium version and probably a few others includes at least one state tax return. They know all the rules of every state and can gather the information from your federal ta return. Here in Nevada, we don’t have state income tax, so that feature is not used, but you may need it in your state.If its like last year, the IRS won’t accept electronic filed returns until late January, so if you buy this now, you’ll have a couple months to work on it.
