An entrepreneur’s complete guide to making it big while keeping things small
Small business specialist Elaine Pofeldt offers her blueprint for getting a running start with your microbusiness—that is, a business with no more than four employees, including yourself. Following her previous book, The Million-Dollar, One-Person Business, Pofeldt shows listeners the steps toward their next entrepreneurial venture, including testing an idea’s market viability while limiting risk, finding cash without giving up control, protecting your personal time and avoiding burn out, and knowing when it is time to start micro-scaling.
Pofeldt’s focus is always on staying lean financially and avoiding entanglements with employees, investors, or partners wherever possible so that you maintain your personal goals and identity. In this book, Pofeldt profiles nearly sixty microbusinesses who have all reached $1 million in annual revenue without losing control or selling out. Tiny Business, Big Money also includes the results of a survey with the founders of fifty seven-figure microbusinesses that got to $1 million with no payroll or very small teams, which provides deeper visibility into their shared principles of success that you can apply to your own small business.

Make your dream business a reality!
This book is truly a masterpiece. Every page had me interested and learning new things about building my business. This book quite literally made my dreams come true, the business I always wanted, the business that was always just out of reach, was made possible by this book. I recommended this to so many of my close friends, and they too now have their own businesses. This book helped me overcome student debt, and also my own doubts, it allowed me to safely, and sustainably start and keep a business. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to start a small business.

Very dry – I picked up the book because of her conversation with Joanna Penn
I frequently listen to Joanna’s podcast, and the author seemed very smart about business. I picked up the book because it seemed that she had a lot of great stuff to say. I put it back down because she said it in the driest way possible.

Great Book for the Modern Business Owner!
Tiny Business, Big Money is well-researched and uses interesting real-life stories to help folks create a high revenue-producing small company. Elaine Pofeldt’s main idea is that bigger is not necessarily better and you can run a very lean company that makes lots of money. In particular, Kathy Goughenour’s story stands out, starting with corporate workplace discrimination, and leading her to 7-figure success doing what she loves to do. I highly recommend you read this fantastic book!

Don’t say this isn’t for you!
More than just another book about other peopleâs dreams come true, Pofeldt shows you how to craft your own. And perhaps just as valuable as the strategies for how to build your ideal business is the underlying philosophy of WHY: because âmany of us donât realize how draining it is to suppress dreams of what we want.â Wouldn’t that precious energy be so much better spent living the kind of lifestyle that only you can create for yourself? If youâre willing to roll up your sleeves, seriously fulfilling and financially rewarding work might be closer than you think. This book could change the trajectory of your whole life.

A must read for those looking to grow their small business
The book had such an interesting collection of stories from real entrepreneurs, which made it engaging and personal. It was eye-opening to see the data about the industries where there is the most opportunity. I’ve never seen data like this in any other book, and I have read a lot of business books. If you only have time to read one book about starting or growing a small business, I would highly recommend this one! Thanks, Elaine!

Almost impossible to read on kindle
Agree with other reviewers that say the format for kindle substitutes random text for text that isnât a letter. I got a few pages in and gave up.

First my apologies because the choice of 1 star is not for the content by itself, which for what I started to read is great, but for the formatting.Accents are not supported, so a simple phrase with “she’s” become “sheââ¬â¢s” and it’s the same with any words or phrases that contain an accent – so at one point, it become difficult to read.I stopped at chapter 2…and asked for a refund.Pity because I enjoyed this first chapters and wanted to read more.Maybe I will buy the paperback version but it will be great if the author make the necessary change to get the right formatting.—–D’abord mes excuses car 1 étoile n’est pas pour le contenu en lui-même, qui pour ce que j’ai commencé à lire est super, mais pour la mise en forme.
