    Emotional!
This is a tough, emotional little tale with a nice ending, and I really enjoyed it. Unger’s prose is evocative and easy to read, and the story just flows. There are some rougher aspects to the story, but Unger’s care with the characters and the ideas in the story mean that Sleep Tight Motel packs a punch in a relatively small word count. For a fun, quick read, The Sleep Tight Motel is a good bet!

    Perfectly eerie.
A spooky short story with a twist I didn’t see coming.Eve is on the run. She’s receiving menacing text messages. All while trying to put as much distance between her and the text sender. She comes upon a roadside motel and fell the fatigue hit her body full force, so she pulls over to get some rest. It’s quiet there and the only other person there is Drew. She plans on taking off as soon as the sun rises but Drew suspects she’ll stay a little longer.

    An okay short story
I’ve never read anything from this author before, but I read another story in this ‘Dark Corners’ series & decided to give this one a try.Eve is on the run from her boyfriend, she’s got a bunch of cash & a gun & she thinks she can outrun her abusive boyfriend. But she stops at a motel, the proprietor Drew is like an angel, kind & caring & ready to protect Eve from whatever she’s done.I’ll admit I didn’t have this figured out til Drew & Eve start eating. Because of this twist, I gave the story 3 stars. This is a cozy story, not really an eerie or creepy one. Since it’s marketed as such, I took away some stars. But it was an ok read. Don’t think I’ll be reading more from this author, though.

Run Run Run As Fast As You Can
Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this most interesting short story. Opinions are unbiased and entirely my own.She has a fake ID, a bag full of money, and a gun and she’s running just as fast as she can, as far as she can. Behind her is her ex-boyfriend who keeps texting her … I’m right behind you.Scared, and deadly tired she happens upon a small motel. If she can just get a couple hours rest, she thinks. She feels pretty safe in thinking he’ll never find her here.According to the owner, the motel is empty … so why does she keep hearing thumps and bumps in the next room? And a woman screaming? This is a terrific short story just in time for Halloween by one of my favorite authors. She’s packed a lot of story in just a few pages. Characters are well defined. You can feel the fear oozing off the pages.Book Blurb — Lisa Unger’s The Sleep Tight Motel is part of Dark Corners, a collection of seven heart-stopping short stories by bestselling authors who give you so many new reasons to be afraid. Quick read for the Halloween season
The Sleep Tight Motel is a short story that follows Eve who is on the run and finds refuge at a motel. She is the only guest there, but she hears sounds in the room next door. The story alternates between the present with Eve at the motel and the past when she met her abusive boyfriend. The motel does have an eerie atmosphere and you do not know what is really going on until the end. I do recommend reading if you are looking for a quick read for the Halloween season.

    Just in Time for HALLOWEEN…
This creepy-crawly story is another fine segment in the Dark Corners collection offered by Amazon.I enjoyed the first person POV as she shows us her internal battle. Similar to any Halloween story, or, of course, any campfire ghost story, you probably know how it will end before you even reach page three. The fun is in the journey to that destination.BLUSH FACTOR: If you have sensitive ears, you might want to pass up on this tale. Yet, if you do, you probably will come back and buy it anyway. (pssss…don’t let your kids see it, because they’re going to freak out if THEY get to read it.)When you plunk down you two bucks for this short story, remember to get the free accompanying Audible edition. I enjoyed listening to the professional narration far more than the written text.BOTTOM LINEA stimulating short story for the commute for only two bucks is fine. The bonus of an Audible edition for free makes this a winner.Five stars out of five.I am striving to produce reviews that help you find books that you want, or avoid books that you wish to avoid. A pleasant short story by Lisa Unger.
This is a short story, from the anthology book titled ”Dark Corners” by Lisa Unger. It is the first book of the American author that I read and certainly not the last, as it is evident that she is capable of building suspense, even in a limited-length story, and crafting really good dialogue. ”The Sleep Tight Motel” is narrated by the feminine perspective of the protagonist who is escaping an abusive relationship and stops her journey for an overnight stay in a remote motel where soon bizarre things start to happen. The ending is twisty and satisfying, and leaves the reader hungry for more. I will keep in mind the name of Lisa Unger and in the near future I will relish one of her novels which seem to have a loyal audience among crime fiction fans.

    good short story
Great little quick read. Just recently found these Amazon originals and so far they are great. If you have not checked them out you definitely should. They are easy enough to read in one sitting and great to get over a slump or bad book!

Well fleshed out and thought through, a fluid and congruent world in which the protagonists interact.Perhaps not quite as surprising, even if it does twist and turn a little, but a welcome read, and cery satisfying.

I loved that it had alittle bit of a twist to it and that it explains her old life and her life now not as scary as I thought it was going to be

The Sleep Tight Motel is a cracking story. I enjoyed the way Unger incorporates flashbacks of Eve’s life and how her world descends into a nightmare when she falls for someone dangerous she loves and loathes at the same time. The story is well-written and packed with suspense. I enjoyed every word. The ending stunned when Unger reveals what really happened to Eve and hints at what The Sleep Tight Motel really is.

Quick lunchtime read. Atmospheric scene setting, but my mind did wander watching my dog stalk and catch flies on the courtyard
