Andrea –
excellent read
This was an excellent emotionally charged read that was brilliantly paced between the past and present (2015) time. The story follows two women who support the war effort in 1944, and multiple women who work to uncover a crime committed decades prior. The book is fast paced and alternates timelines seamlessly. The characters are all deeply intertwined, and the author did an excellent job of putting all the pieces together.I am going to allow my brain to settle before commenting more. The subject matter was a bit rough for me personally, with corrupt police officers, abused children, and unsolved murders, but there was still light woven throughout the book.

Really Good
This book has a really interesting storyline. I liked the characters and how their stories were so intertwined. The characters were all so broken in different ways, but how they got that way also made sense for each person. They had very individual personalities. I finished this book in 2 days. It was hard to put down.I had the murderer figured out about half way through the book, so I was expecting the ending. There were some points where the book was very redundant, such as going through Holly’s long letter twice. There are other places where things were unnecessarily repeated, almost verbatim, as well.In spite of the repetitive nature of this book, it was very good and I’d definitely recommend.

I liked the way the characters were developed. They were intertwined through out the novel. The twists and turns were intertwined and interesting. Great book.

The Web of past and present
This is the second of Emily Gunnis’ novel I’ve read. Her style intrigued me, blending past and present through webs of interconnection. Characters, main and secondary, are well developed and stay true to themselves thoughout. Settings are described to enhance the story line, not just for decorative prose. The injustices to women are daunting, and as one of the baby boomer generation, I can relate deeply.I love forward to reading her other books soon!

Very interesting book!
I loved the story, but it moved way too slowly. The end was a huge surprise! I’m anxious to read the next one.

Too many characters
The story covers 3 different time frames with many characters. I found it too difficult to keep the sequences in order and keep track of where the characters fit into the story. Also, I thought the excuse for the killer’s behavior was very weak. The story is well written and if you are not familiar with the history of Bletchley Park you will find it interesting, but I just couldn’t relate to the characters and I felt there were many unexplained details on the the characters personalities.

Good book.
I liked the way the characters wove around each other but the connections didn’t become clear until closer to the end.

Emotions flooding as story progressed.
A story that made me angry at the people so called IN CHARGE. Who was looking out for the vulnerable? A page turner.
