The only book you need to get started!
In The Business Money Process: The Step-By-Step Guidance to the Business Money Process, the author lays out a well-structured, easy to read blueprint for financial success in business. To emphasize how much I appreciate this approach, I will just say that I have taken a course at the Community College level in entrepreneurship, another on small business, made more than one visit to the SBA to collect data, and am enrolled in financial education class through Coursera (taught by the University of Illinois), but this is easier to follow than those. The book begins by stating its primary objective, to âDemystify the complexities of business finance for new entrepreneurs.â This it does by diving into defining financial jargon in plain English. The first step in financial literacy is learning to read the lingo. After that, the author takes us through a journey of must haves for small businesses and how to set up on solid ground. After the basics, we dive into growth, expansion, various systems of securing capital, etc. In my opinion, what I valued most in these chapters was the continued insistence on diversifying passive income streams within the individual business model. So, whatever your product or service, do not rely solely on that to generate income. The author concludes with a catchy, inspirational saying: Financial mastery is not the destination, but a continuous journey. Indeed, throughout the book we are reminded to see failures not as setbacks but as âsteppingstonesâ in the right direction. We are encouraged to become life-long learners of finances. Perhaps most importantly, we are told to engage our audiences, become students of those who have done what we are setting out to do, and become mentors of those who are not as far along as ourselves. My only complaint with the book is that in the introduction, I find the author uses too many adjectives. This goes away during the chapters of the book and the language becomes more direct. All in all, this is a really good read. And for someone like me, interested in finance, entrepreneurship and writing, this is a guide I plan to use for a long time.

The book covers most aspects of running a business.
This book provides A-Z coverage of aspects of running a business. It is well written but not really geared to small business owners just starting out. As an owner of several businesses this book provides in-depth aspects of all facets of operating a business more for medium and large sized companies. Very well done but could of included a sample balance sheet and income statement.
