    Go, go, Android Go!
The more I looked into this little tablet the more I found to say about it, but nothing I learned disappointed my original hope that even at this tiny price it might have some utility. It runs on something called “Android Go”, a slimmed down (yet gradually bulking) version of the Android operating system, provided with every Android release starting with 8.1, in 2017, up to the most current (Version 14, late 2023). This tablet doesn’t ship with the most recent version of Android-Go though, or even comfortably support it. Instead it shiped with version 12, released in late 2021. It seems Android keeps three versions supported concurrently, with the oldest dropping off around 3–3½ years after release, and as the installed version is currently the oldest in circulation, this puts its projected end of support somewhere around March ’25—not expired, but short-dated. I don’t know what this really means as it doesn’t look like version 12 has been updated recently in any case.I also learned that Android (or at least Android Go), like Windows (or at least DOS) allows you to allocate pretend RAM from the hard-disk equivalent, which is how this tablet ships, in the “2 + 2” configuration (2 GB true RAM, 2 GB fake RAM). This means the 4 GB memory specification is a little misleading, and also makes it clear that 12 is probably the version best suited for this hardware after all, as its lite version has a footprint of only 1 GB, able to fit into the actual 2 GB with room to run things, while version 13’s footprint has grown to 2 GB, which presumably means if you tried running it on this tablet’s native 2 GB configuration it wouldn’t work, whereas if you reallocated the 2 GB extension, the version 12 would presumably still work, and faster.Yeah, I am just nerdy enough to find this interesting; but you don’t have to be nerdy to like this tablet at this price. It’s a kids’ specs tablet with adult style, and if you can find some utility in it—a miniature typing station combined with a Bluetooth keyboard, an eReader, an instructional video sidekick, it’s well worth the price; you could even get it just to mess around with Android Go. You will best approach it with a hobbyist bent: a device whose relative sophistication is only “small” relative to those that have expanded their software to consume all available hardware, with a few tricks up its sleeve. I bet if you disabled that 2 GB pseudo RAM it would really RIP.

A tablet even an Elder could use!
HOT TABLET 7 inch Tablet setup is easy, not too difficult straight out of the box. Came partially charged and with a simple manual sheet that had enough pictures and information. HOT TABLET 7 inch Tablet has a plethora of apps that are commonly used and require only basics information for customizing. Connecting to the Internet was simple.I was able to set up my Google account and connect other accounts such as YouTube and even Kindle to this tablet, within 15 minutes after turning on. Even provided simple props to help me get started with customizing, including setting up my Wi-Fi to the tablet. This is not a bad tablet for a kid or young adult, due to its price and apps installed on it. This would even be a great tablet for an Elder, who is getting the hang of technology.

More a Novelty Than a Practical Tool
I only picked this tablet up to review it. I wanted to compare this cheap tablet to the few I’ve had in the past. I wasn’t pleased by the experience. It performs about as well as 10 yo cheap tablet that I just gave away. This tablet uses a Raspberry Pi 2 ARM ARMv7 Processor rev 5 (v7l) processor. (Think very slow.) The GPU is a Mali-T820.The screen is plastic and not very responsive. (There is a thin protective film over the screen. Removing this didn’t not enhance performance.) The soft nature of the screen’s material makes it very easy to scratch. The 3000 mAh battery is touted as lasting 8-hours. I doubt this, because I used a quarter of the charge in an hour and a half. (I will admit that I was pushing the processor to its max while I tested it, and so maybe if one is just reading text, or listening to audio it might last something equivalent to 8-hours.)The OS is Android Go v12 with the last security update being 2021-04-05. Don’t expect any more security updates, and don’t expect this tablet to be secure. There is no documentation other than a card how to enter Fastboot mode. (A developer/hobbyist thing not something a end-user will care about.)This tablet is more a novelty that a practical device. My 4 yo grandson has been using old phones for a couple years now, and this device can’t compare to the performance of those phones. The only standout feature of the tablet is its size, but this also makes it more cumbersome. (He really wasn’t interested trying out something new.)The only thing I could see using this tablet for is for the same thing people use Raspberry Pi’s for. It comes with a screen, and so that’s handy, but you don’t have access to any of the standard RasPi I/O.If you truly need a tablet then look elsewhere. I noticed that the Amazon Fire 8″ is not that much more if you have Prime. Link to Fire here: https://amzn.to/4cuZAus (support link). And the Fire is ten times better than this tablet.
