The Reference Manual for Finance Practitioners
I got this book because of a free online course on Money and Banking, given by Columbia University/Barnard College. Professor Perry Mehrling instructing. It was a great course on very pertinent issues of today. How everything works. This is one of the main works referred to in the course. If you want to know about credit default swaps, Interest rate swaps, the repo financing, (securities, not real estate) etc, this is your guide. I believe it is standard for finance people on Wall Street.

Great book! cheap publisher? the binding glue stinks BAD
The book contents are great, but this seems to be a cheap printing. My god, the binding glue smells simply awful! I have to put the but down sometimes to get away from the smell! And the paper is whisper thin. But aside from the publisher, the content is excellent. In combination with Harris’ Trading and Exchanges, you’ll know quite a bit more about financial markets as they are in reality, not in some finance egghead’s dream world.

Espectacular libro sobre el dinero, lo tiene todo, aun años después de publicado, pero el que quiera saber de este tema siempre debe empezar por acá. La entrega oportuna y con la calidad esperada

A Good Primer and
I am taking Exonomics of Money and Banking via Banard College-Columbia University MOOC’s (Massive Open Online Courses) on Cousera. Stigum’s Money Market, 4E is a recommended read. An excellent primer for the uninitiated and an invesment for the professional.

Great, but a difficult read.
Very knowledgeable author on the different financial markets. A lot of financial jargon used which the author does explain but is a difficult read for those with some knowledge of financial markets, let alone a novice. A book everyone should read but probably not your first financial book.

Classic reference
This is a classic reference text. I bought this book for a Coursera class on Economics of Money and Banking. Am satisfied with the content and will consider this a keeper.

Five out of five stars
I would recommend to any undergraduate student majoring in business, especially Finance to gain basic background of Financial Markets. Its a good read, but may get dull at times.

It is a must for any money market professional. Not for an average person though.
