Sanford and Son: The Complete Series (Slim Packaging)

Awesome DVD Collection!
I loved this show as a kid and still love them. Here you get all 136 episodes! The packaging could be better but it’s adequate considering there are 17 discs. They are stacked on top of each other on a single spindle. I guess they did this to cut down on the packaging cost? Unless you’re vigorously shaking the package the discs should be ok and not get scratched. Overall a great deal at this price point. The back of the box says “Remastered in High Definition”However, these are not in HD as DVD’s can only produce a resolution of 480p. The picture quality is the same as you see them on TV. I highly recommend this DVD collection.

FRED SANFORD KEEPS ME LAUGHING
I’ve always love this comedy show but I couldn’t remember the title of the shows. I scanned the customer reviews here and couldn’t find a listing of the titles either. Well, I purchased this set and decide to list the titles myself for someone else so that they could determine if they had certain shows already in their library. It would be a great appreciation if amazon or the publisher from any company selling dvd sets on amazon, would list the titles of the dvds. I notice that at some other dvd sights on Amazon, good kind hearted customers went out of their way to list the titles of DVD sets they’ve purchased. Red foxx made this show a classic. Very old school and enjoyable.

Great Value – If You Love Sanford & Son, This Is For You
At $22.47 for all six seasons (136 episodes) of the show, this is a real bargain, and I didn’t have to think twice about ordering it.All 136 episodes are there on 17 disks. Seasons 2-6 each span 3 disks and 24 episodes (a couple of seasons have 25 episodes). Season 1, however, only has 14 episodes spanning 2 disks. The video quality is not “great” (480p) considering the HD video we’re accustomed to today, but it was what they had in those days (1972 – 1977) for “standard definition” TV (no flatscreens in those days — remember the old CRT sets?). So on today’s wide screens, it will play in “letterbox” format, with “black bars” at the left and right of the picture. You can adjust the playback to “stretch” the picture but this should not be done — it just looks bad.It took me awhile, but I converted all 136 episodes to streaming format (MP4) stored on my Mac (running the Plex Media Server). This gives me complete flexibility to access and play any desired episode, using whatever platform I like (TV, iPhone, iPad, etc).Packaging-wise, they stacked all 17 disks one on top of another, with no padding or separators between the disks. Not good form, but if you’re careful handling the disks, it should present no problem.I deducted one star mainly because the episodes are NOT in the order they originally aired (i.e., Seasons 1-6, Episodes 1-136). Whoever laid out the disks should be drawn and quartered — there’s no rhyme or reason, and only Season 2 is in its proper order. The other seasons are a seemingly random jumble of episodes. About all that can be said is that each season (3 disks) does contain the episodes for *that* season; they’re just not in the proper order.This caused me a lot of extra time and effort when converting the episodes for streaming, as I had to first rip the tracks (3 disks per season, approximately 8 tracks per disk) and then painstakingly label each track with the proper episode. User DTCG did us a HUGE favor by figuring all this out and publishing a complete season/disk/track/episode listing for the benefit of others like myself. A big THANKS to DTCG!Bottom line: I’m very happy with the purchase (and glad to have all that work behind me!) Again, for anyone who is a big fan of the show, I would highly recommend this complete series box set.
