Responsive Web Design with HTML5 and CSS
the best book I ever read

Another crucially important book to add to my collection!
For a bit of background, I’m a self-taught developer with 5+ years experience. I have not used HTML nor CSS since HTML5/CSS1.1, so I was coming into this mostly blind.Mr. Frain does an amazing job explaining why responsive design is so important through demonstrating every step of the process. It thoroughly details topics such as media queries, forms, responsive images, SVG and so much more. Everything you need to bring you up to speed on current practices are all wonderfully laid out and easily referenced.I originally had the ebook of this as a review copy but was so impressed that I knew I needed the physical in my collection. If you have any interest in web development, this is a must-have!

Comes with a pdf version of entire book!
At a glance, love the authors humor and teaching technique. The pdf is useful because itâs hard to type code with one hand while keeping the book open. Pdf version also allows me to keep my book in excellent condition because I love books. A good idea to save time and to understand some of the concepts here would be to have a working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web dev tools to console.log cool stuff along with using a text editor like Virtual Studio code with cool extensions to make life easier. Letâs face it though if your looking at this book you probably already have these fundamentals in your tool box. I did a course on IT prior and am enrolled in a front end web development course. Enjoy, and buy with confidence! Welcome to the community of aspiring or already computer programmers!

Good, but not for the beginner. Missing context.
I’ve been working with html and on and off for a couple of decades, but I never went in and studied the syntax and the rules from scratch. I just worked with front end design programs and would go into the back end code whenever I needed to to customize things. So I wanted to fill in some holes in my knowledge. While reading this book, I found myself having to look things up that the author just assumed that I would know- so I am not recommending this book to anyone who is a beginner or even an old school designer or someone who has knowledge of working with code but has not studied it from scratch. There is also missing code to examples he gives in the book which took me a while to find on his website and to which seemed obvious to me that you would include in the examples.Other than those few frustrations, I have consumed most of the data in the book and it read quite easily, and I have gained some valuable understanding in the way the two languages work together.I also enjoyed the author’s sense of humor.Four out of Five stars.

The Only Book You’ll Need
This is THE guide for up to date front end web design. Mr Frain writes in a very easy to understand language and explains the code from a high level all the way down to the details, so you get a clear picture of what is going on.This is one of three books that I always keep on my desk at all times for reference. It is also one of the very few tech books with color images, which is a huge deal when talking about layout and design.

Get This Book
I just finished chapter five and it’s important because now I know how to align CSS with HTML; section two should be just as interesting if not more. This is the first book that took me to Fluid grid and so much more I’m very happy with this book money well spent

I am a designer that used to do a lot of web-dev many moons ago, but haven’t touched any of it in a long timeRecently I’ve made the decision to get re-acquainted with it and bought this to fill in any gaps in my knowledgeIn this day and age it is really hard finding actual BOOKS on these topics rather than online learning, books suit my a lot better as I can’t easily do online courses on my commute to work… so I’m glad Ben took the time to write thisQuite a bit has changed in the years where I’ve not been coding, like flexbox and grids… this book was the perfect reference to let me know what I’ve missed, aswell as reminding me of things that I’d forgotten about!

Fantastic book that is a real pleasure to work through. I really appreciate the color printing which makes most images much more interesting and concise. I wished that more publishers would chose printing in color, even with a slight raise in cost.
