The 2nd edition of R for Marketing Research and Analytics continues to be the best place to learn R for marketing research. This bookis a complete introduction to the power of R for marketing research practitioners. The text describes statistical models from a conceptual point of view with a minimal amount of mathematics, presuming only an introductory knowledge of statistics. Hands-on chapters accelerate the learning curve by asking readers to interact with R from the beginning. Core topics include the R language, basic statistics, linear modeling, and data visualization, which is presented throughout as an integral part of analysis.
Later chapters cover more advanced topics yet are intended to be approachable for all analysts. These sections examine logistic regression, customer segmentation, hierarchical linear modeling, market basket analysis, structural equation modeling, and conjoint analysis in R. The text uniquely presents Bayesian models with a minimally complex approach, demonstrating and explaining Bayesian methods alongside traditional analyses for analysis of variance, linear models, and metric and choice-based conjoint analysis.
With its emphasis on data visualization, model assessment, and development of statistical intuition, this book provides guidance for any analyst looking to develop or improve skills in R for marketing applications.
The 2nd edition increases the book’s utility for students and instructors with the inclusion of exercises and classroom slides. At the same time, it retains all of the features that make it a vital resource for practitioners: non-mathematical exposition, examples modeled on real world marketing problems, intuitive guidance on research methods, and immediately applicable code.

The BEST learning resource for marketing research – from beginner to advanced
I have a master’s degree in Business Analytics and I can’t say enough good things about this book. In fact, I have both first and second edition. This book:-Guides you through the entire code-Teaches efficient and effective thought processes-How to build clean, reproducible code in modules-Multi-facet approaches to the problem/question at handIt is so well written that a beginner could use this book to get started in learning R. This book is truly worth every penny I spent on it(them). The only thing I’m disappointed in is the binding. The binding on my first edition is failing. It doesn’t look like the actual binding has come loose but the pages are popping out from the binding, hence my reason for keeping the second edition (pics are of my 2nd ed). Such a good book that I’m willing to suffer the bad binding. Regardless of the binding problem, I highly recommend this book for those interested in R, marketing, and improving your analytic skills.

Alright, so diving into “R for Marketing Research” was a bit of a game-changer for me. I grabbed this book to level up my R skills for my UX research work, and it did not disappoint. What I loved most:Clear and Personable Writing: their writing style is super clear and has a ton of personality. It’s like learning from a friend who happens to be really good at explaining stuff. It doesn’t feel like you’re slogging through a textbook.Practical Examples: The book is loaded with examples that you can actually follow along with.Smart Structure: I appreciated how the book builds on itself, chapter by chapter. You’re not thrown into the deep end right away. My understanding of linear models, built step by step in this book, is much more profound than it was before.Base R Focus: The decision to focus on base R rather than leaning heavily on tidyverse was a plus for me. Don’t get me wrong, tidyverse is great, but getting a solid grasp on base R gives you a strong foundation, and this book nails that.Relevant to My Work: Lastly, the fact that the content felt tailored to projects at least somewhat similar to what I work on was a huge motivator. In short, if youâre in UX research and youâre looking to get better at R, this book is a solid pick. Itâs not just about learning R; itâs about enhancing your ability to tackle real-world projects with confidence. Highly recommend giving it a read!

Bof. C’est du R. Le marketing est vraiment au second plan sur des exemples artificiel. Donc pour apprendre R, oui ; pour le marketing, non.
