Broken
My favorite tape player finally died. I must have over 100 cassettes and I listen to them quite often. This product works for me

Do not buy, this is a poorly constructed unit.
This is one hot mess of a unit. Now I normally donât write reviews but there were so many issues with this and I just had to share my experience in hopes that I save someone the aggravation. Now I was just looking for a simple tape deck to play music at my desk through my speakers so when I saw this pop up on my search and saw the price, I though could it be too good to be true? Yes, yes it was. Here are my issues:1. The buttons are really hard to push down, same as closing the tape deck. I figured that they might loosen up over time but was really surprised at the resistance.2. The left deck worked fine, I then tried the right deck. As I was playing my cassette, I noticed the right side of the cassette was not rotating. I stopped the playback and sure enough, my cassette was getting eaten. Luckily I stopped it in time and was able to save my tape.3. Tried it again, made sure both sides were spinning and they were this time but the music was sped up, slightly. I stopped playback, put the cassette back in deck one and it was normal, put it back in deck two, same results. The music was playing faster.4. Another note, the gray label in the deck that sits in the back and allows you to read the tape length more easily was crooked and it wasnât even close. Quality control?5. Finally, it says PylaUSA but the back of the unit says made and China⦠trust me I could tell without even looking.Look, you can do better, take the money you were going to put into this unit and pay a little more for something with better quality. You want to enjoy your music, not hassle with a subpar unit.

Plays well with others
a nicely priced dual cassette player/recorder. Works well.My only complaint is how hard it is to push the selection buttons and get them to stay.

A Waste of Natural Resources
I bought the Pyle PT639D cassette deck to make a tape, as my 40-year-old tape deck did not want to work. I found a cassette tape still wrapped in its original plastic, removed the plastic from around the case, opened the case and pulled out an unused tape. Placed the unused tape into the player and started to record using a stereo system I had never made a tape with. I did not like the results. I moved Everything to another room in the house that had my old stereo equipment set up in. I fully rewound the just opened and slightly recorded on cassette tape and with no inputs hit record to erase what had just been recorded. With out checking my recent work I started to record again. Once that was completed, I wanted to check the quality of my work so rewound the tape and hit play. At first it was very soft and then got loud as the most recent recording came across the head. Realizing that the soft volume was my first original recording on the tape, I decided I would record nothing on the tape multiple times to see if that would erase the unwanted starts. It could not erase what it had previously recorded. Not only was the tape deck unable to erase a tape it had recorded, when the record and play button were pushed there was a lot of give in them as if the support was going to bend in. Another telling sign is there is a card enclosed with it that says, âREGISTER WITHIN 7 DAYS TO CLAIM YOUR 1 YEAR WARRANTY AND *FREE HDTV CLEANING KIT +CABLESâ This cassette deck is not only a waste of money but also a waste of natural resources. As others have said: use a boombox. I put the above-mentioned cassette in my twenty-year-old boombox and pressed record with no inputs and it erased the tape just fine. The Boombox also did a better job recording than this cassette deck. With so many proven designs from over the years this cassette deck is a total disappointment. They decided to take a wheel and draw an equilateral triangle that just touches the outside of the circle and market the triangle as a wheel. This Pyle product is a waste of natural resources. I looked at other cassette decks and their performance specs (dynamic range, etc.) were all the exact same lousy specs compared to that of the forty-year-old cassette deck I had. This led me to believe that behind the face plate, these new ones are all essentially the same product regardless of the name, and therefore I chose the cheapest one. IF this product had worked as well as my ancient boombox, I would not be returning it.So as others have said skip this Pyle of c*** and use a boombox.

Great cassette deck for the price
I have read reviews mentioning various issues including how hard the buttons are to press. They weren’t any surprise to me. Having owner numerous cassette devices over my lifetime. It sounds great, plays well. Easy to use. I don’t know how it records as I haven’t tried to record anything and have no need to do so. Good buy.

Whew!
Bought this because we have hours and hours of tapes but had no way of listening to them. So we bought this basic Pyle tape player. How super-good did to have to be for the amount of time we’d be using it? What a piece of Chinese JUNK! It ate three tapes before I starting thinking I had a piece of junk here. But then, the power button quit functioning! That did it! I shipped it back and ordered a used Sony unit. It works and so far, so good.

Works as expected except once the 2nd tape deck wouldn’t eject and I had to pry it open with a knife.Never tried recording with it yet.
Donna robinson –
First off this is american and runs on 110volts so had to buy an adaptor to use then the actual tape deck does none of the things it said it would do line in button changed nothing the reverse play didn’t work so many issues I returned it
Zahid syed –
I have been so disappointed with this 9 it arrived with a burnt smell from the cassette deck before even taking it out of packaging just returned. It is by far as useless product which the manufacturer doesn’t even have the common decency to include a plug for your country avoid like the plague
