What do Microsoft and MrBeast have in common? Both have leveraged ecosystems to surround their customers with trust to build massive success.
But most B2B companies continue struggling with diminishing returns from traditional go-to-market tactics. They remain stuck in the old inbound and outbound eras, trying to interrupt or attract buyers in a market increasingly inundated by noise.
In the old ‘How Economy,’ buyers asked, “How can I solve this problem?” They Googled for answers to their questions, and companies tried to game systems to get their information in front of them at the right time and in the right channels.
But in today’s ‘Who Economy,’ buyers now ask, “Who can help me solve this problem?” They are looking to the influencers who have been to their promised land to make purchasing decisions.
Nearbound is the go-to-market strategy that empowers B2B companies to leverage that trust at scale.
In this groundbreaking book, ecosystem veteran and nearbound.com Co-founder Jared Fuller reveals his proven formula for transforming partnerships from a siloed department into an integrated strategy across your organization. Learn how overlaying a “nearbound mindset” onto every department unlocks exponential revenue growth through trust-based relationships and network effects.
Nearbound and the Rise of the Who Economy provides specific strategies and tactics you can implement today to surround customers with influence through marketing, sales, customer success, and operations. Accelerate deals, reduce friction, and play to win with the nearbound blueprint.

Transformative Insights on Building Thriving Business Ecosystems & Partnerships
Nearbound and the Rise of the Who Economy – by Jared Fuller offers transformative insights into the evolution of business ecosystems where relationships and trust are at the forefront.Having reviewed this book on LinkedIn chapter by chapter, i’ve lived this book, interviewed the author and many of the quoted experts on the forceandfrictionpodcast.com and have to say this book brilliantly captures the essence of modern business strategies, focusing on the importance of community and partnerships over traditional competitive tactics.Fuller dives deep into the concept of ‘Nearbound’, a strategic approach that leverages the collective strength of networks, advocating for a shift from solo competitive strategies to collaborative success. His discussion on the ‘Who Economy’ is particularly enlightening, emphasizing how businesses can thrive by focusing on who they connect with rather than just what they offer. The book is packed with practical advice, real-life case studies, and actionable strategies that challenge the reader to rethink traditional business paradigms.Fuller’s compelling narrative makes complex concepts approachable, engaging, and exciting to apply. For any business leader, marketer, or sales professional looking to harness the power of their network and transform their approach to business, this book is an invaluable resource. It not only provides the blueprint for building successful partnerships but also inspires a more ethical and sustainable approach to business growth.Nearbound and the Rise of the Who Economy is not just a book; it’s a movement towards a more interconnected and mutually beneficial business landscape. An essential read for anyone committed to making a meaningful impact in todayâs dynamic market. An infliction point for our industry
Iâve read dozens of books about partnerships. This one is different.A lot of books in our industry are outdated, instructional, and (I hate to admit) kinda boring.Nearbound makes you fly through the pages. It’s aspirational.Jared is the Tony Robbins of partnerships. He puts nearbound into the context of several mega trends and shows how they will affect our customers and our own lives. The book can generally be split into three parts:- what is nearbound and why is it important?- detailed tactics and plays for each department- additional tactics and ideasThe first and last chapter are easy to read. The middle section is quite instructional so I will need to revisit it on a just-in-time basis.Overall the book has plenty of ideas and vocabulary that Partnership Leaders need to inject partnerships into every department of their B2B Saas company.

Category designers take note: Nearbound should be a pillar of your category design strategy!
“Nearbound” by Jared Fuller is a transformative read for those immersed in sales, partnerships, and GTM strategies â but more relevant to my ecosystem, Nearbound is a pillar to your #CategoryDesign strategy. It eschews traditional tactics like spamming and solely relying on social media, advocating instead for trust-based relationships and strategic partnerships as the cornerstone of modern business growth. Categories are built by people and Nearbound’s focus on leveraging your trusted ecosystem and leveraging partnerships sets the foundation for category dominance. Through compelling examples and data, Fuller illustrates the power of ‘Nearbound’ strategies in navigating a crowded marketplace, making it an essential manual for rethinking competitive advantage in today’s business landscape. From #Startups to unicorns to #VentureCapital, this book is a must read.

Easy Decision, Not A Hard Life
Excellent book covering the future of sales based on surrounding you and your team with partnerships that benefit both parties. Jared provides clear reason why nearbound works and a clear blueprint to follow. For someone who has used partnerships in the past to effectively scale businesses, Jared’s book covers all aspects and should be read by not just by sales folks but all folks in business. The title of the review is a play on a quote in the book that states Hard decision, easly life and easy decision, hard life. Reading this book is an easy decision.

Sales continues to evolve
Overall, I was really pleased with Nearbound. If you’re not familiar, at a very high level the author argues that you can no longer just spam prospects with outbound emails, push out endless content, or rely solely on social media to create inbound. Essentially, customers are overwhelmed with all of the content and brand messaging so they are starting to go back to trusted recommendations to make buying decisions.Nearbound does a good job of backing up its ideas with data and actual business examples. I definitely came away with some really good takeaways and would recommend giving it a read.

This book is a very good introduction to the changes in the world of GoToMarket. It gives a clear perspective on why it is so hard to break through to your prospective customers and what you can do about it. A thoughtful, method-full, concept-rich book to help your company move forward.

“Nearbound” by Jared Fuller is a game-changer for anyone in the partnerships and customer success space. As a Partnership leader myself, I found this book to be a treasure trove of insights and practical strategies that are both timely and impactful. From the very beginning, Jared’s emphasis on trust resonated deeply with me. He astutely observes that “trust is now in such short supply, it has become increasingly valuable and prized.” This theme is woven throughout the book, emphasizing the importance of building and leveraging trust in today’s business landscape. One of my favorite aspects of “Nearbound” is how it redefines traditional marketing and sales approaches. Jared points out that today’s buyers are more likely to ask, “Who do I know that has solved this problem?” rather than evaluating vendors based on impersonal content. This shift towards a network of trust is brilliantly captured in the concept of nearbound marketing and sales, which surrounds the customer with trusted relationships and partnerships.Jared also highlights the evolving role of partnerships, noting that they should no longer be siloed but integrated across all departments. This holistic approach ensures that every team can benefit from the trust and relationships that partnerships bring. One of the standout quotes for me was from Jerzy Gregorek: âHard choices, easy life. Easy choices, hard life.â This encapsulates the essence of Jared’s message â that building meaningful, trust-based relationships may be challenging, but it ultimately leads to sustained success.”Nearbound” is not just a book; it’s a blueprint for modern business strategy. Whether you’re looking to refine your customer success approach, build stronger partnerships, or simply understand the evolving landscape of B2B marketing and sales, this book provides the guidance you need. Jaredâs concept of the Nearbound Revenue Platform and the ICE framework (Identify, Collaborate, Execute) are particularly useful for operationalizing these strategies. In a world where “great product never beats great go-to-market,” Jared’s insights on network effects and the power of partnerships are invaluable. He makes a compelling case for why companies must evolve to surround their customers with trusted relationships if they want to succeed. In summary, “Nearbound” by Jared Fuller is a must-read for anyone looking to navigate and thrive in the modern business ecosystem. Itâs an inspiring and practical guide that will leave you with actionable strategies to transform your approach to partnerships and customer success. I highly recommend it!

Really enjoyed the book and how it tells a narrative of moving from the traditional GTM models to the model more familiar with consumer purchasing, e.g. Who do I know and Trust that has purchased and used this product. The book is a flowing read with topics cover the whole gamut of GTM with stories, facts and quotes to help you navigate GTM today.

This is a must-read for any GTM executive, CEO, CRO, CMO, … – to understand why everyone is talking about partnerships as a must-have; and, more importantly, how (not) to include partnerships and Nearbound into their GoToMarket.Backed with industry insights, statistics, real-life examples and success stories Jared documents why and how companies with a partner-first mentality have consistently outperformed their competitors, and why this will only become more important in the new era of “Who-Economy”.Yes, you may not be able to just replicate the examples. There is no easy blueprint to copy in partnerships. But you will find a lot of valuable insights and inspiration to start your Nearbound success case. Read the book, team up with an expert and achieve your company’s goals with the power of partnerships.
