When I began writing this book in 2021, I was the highest-ranking black female in the Navy
JAGC, as well as the only black judge in the U.S. Navy. I am a servant-leader at my church. I
mentor young girls and adults, men and women. As a civilian, I am one of five black
Administrative Judges in my agency. I am a franchisee, real estate investor, and an Independent
Travel Agent. So, I get why people look up to me thinking I “have it going on” so to speak. I
wrote this book for that reason. Because while by society’s standards, I may “have it going on,”
I have been through a lot. Born to teenaged parents; molested by multiple people as a child;
physically abused; divorced twice; filed bankruptcy; hit by my own car, just to name a few
things. What people see now is the living, breathing, walking testimony of what God can and
will do in spite of you and others. There is nothing fake about anything that I do. My worship is
for real. The joy that I have now is for real. I do not seek accolades. Rather, I want to be an
inspiration to others who find themselves going through and as a consequence, believe they will
never achieve true joy and success. The goal of this book is help people get to a place of living
in a permanent state of continual transformation. I know that it sounds like an oxymoron to
permanently transform, but to maximize the most out of the time we have on earth, we must
understand that we should always be working to be better. To get the most out of the process,
you will have to be open and transparent with God and yourself. Own your struggles regardless
of what your struggles may be-finances, sexual impurity, unforgiveness, addiction to
pornography, drugs, or alcohol, etc.-whatever they are. There is nothing to be embarrassed
about. It is just you and God. Then, you have to decide that you want to be better. The last step
is being intentional about the specific steps you are going to change. That’s where this book will
prayerfully come in. Read each devotional and answer the questions for yourself. Then have the
courage to accept the assigned tasks.
