No auto renewal
Have been using about 4 years. Used to use Norton till they required credit card for auto renewal. Happy with McAfee Total Protection. Easy to use and seems to work good keeping computers and phones protected. Sometimes too many ads but other than that everything is fine. Good support 24/7.

Used for years
We used to use Norton, but switched to McAfee several years ago after talking to an IT guy at work. It was easy to install and appears to work well and protect our privacy. We recently got WiFi as weâre very rural. The software will recognize our wifi and ask if it is trusted. I donât know why it doesnât retain this wifi. Iâve even renamed it, but it keeps wanting me to âcertifyâ it. Thatâs the only downside that Iâve seen.I wish it was compatible with our Kindle Fires.

Don’t get caught up in subscriptions
Buy a new copy every year through Amazon and it is a crap load cheaper than having a subscription with these antivirus companies. They take advantage of you when you just auto renew every year. It’s stupid.

Does not work with Mac Big Sur and Monterey
Updates:Q&A says “version 4.10.0.0 or later of McAfee security software for macOS” would work with Big Sur. My version is 4.11 and still not working. I have Big Sur and recently Monterey, but errors kept saying “At Risk” for more than a year since the previous subscription, that gives an impression of Mcafee is not working as advertised. I did uninstall and install a few times but nothing improved. Identify protection says data was bleached and I have to change the account password, but I do not have any account there. What is working:Real time scanning, Automatic updates, Scheduled scans, Part of identify protection (Identity protection score) – go to your web account>Access your identity protection service. it does not slow my Mac down, while Norton slows it down. What is not working:Firewall, VPN in Mac (it says available but no function anywhere that is supposed to be), The early 2021 iOS app does not come with VPN; VPN comes with only the latest 2021 app, so it was not available until recently. Part of identify protection (Web protection), Web advisor (an error says at risk)May be or may not be working:Subscription (says your subscription was expired repeatedly before the expiration date- it is annoying to see the message “you are not protected”), iOS protection (iphone app looked like protecting initially, but it kept giving strange messages, including “no subscription” or “6 month subscription” when I have one year subscription.Confusing is that unlimited VPN does NOT come with unlimited device subscription. I used up limited VPN in a few days, so it is useless. MCafee safe browsing is given an option that turns on as needed, but when I use it, Safari gets very slow and does not load some of the websites. To get an unlimited VPN, you have to get + VPN subscription (for example, 10 devices + VPN).—I have used this for a long time and bought this again for this year. Pros: McAfee has been the only one that does not slow down my computer. I tried Norton but it made it very slow. Others have other problems. The price is ok.Cons: It does not look like working as computer protection soft. It gives me various errors, “subscription expired (this is new)”, “firewall not working with Big Sur”, “need access to the computer (it does have full access).” The main functions are not working and I am not sure about the other functions.

Great product
been there –
it works but i changed rating to 3
great price and it does not auto renew which i hate. i have used Norton but the auto renew and other issues made me move to mcafee/ just bought 2024 version to install in feb*** installing this was a real pain. logged into my account and nowhere to input renewal code. It just wants to sell me an update and put on auto renewal which i hate. because then you PAY what they want and you have no options. logged in app on pc and was able to enter the renewal code. but again, it tried to sell me more and wanted credit card info for the benefit of auto renewal and you have look really hard to see where you bypass and move on. terrible. i am going to look at others as mcaffee is too pushy and tries put its yahoo browser and other crap on your machine without asking. i am tired of this.
