Do you dream of starting your own business but don’t have any money? What if you could set up a venture with nothing but a good business idea and the determination to make it work?
It’s an appealing idea, particularly in the current economic climate where no one has cash to spare and austerity rules the day. In fact, studies show that more people start businesses during recessions than at any other time. The good news is that it can be done, provided you follow a few golden rules.
Based on Rachel Bridge’s popular workshops, this book will help set you on the way to success.
As the former Enterprise Editor for the Sunday Times, Rachel has interviewed hundreds of successful entrepreneurs. Join her on her journey as she starts up her very own enterprise, entrepreneurthings.com, and covers all the ups and downs she encounters, while giving examples along the way of how real-life entrepreneurs have coped with the same problems that beset everyone in business at some point.

One of the best book of my life that broke my myth that a business can’t be started without money.Very practical book n I am applying its examples in my real life.

Ms. Bridge explains, how to set up a small scale Business without any Money. She provides many examples, that You can use in the real world, as she has met thousands of entrepreneurs, writing the Business Section of a national newspaper. This is definitely not the generic advice, You will find in other books, nor does she claim to have found a ‘system’. She has compiled real-world examples, and grouped them: “How to spend nothing on assets”, “how to spend nothing on Advertising” etc. Really inspiring. Even better than Guillebeau “The 100 $ Start-Up”.

Much much better the Teach yourself books, this one has some interesting and useful tips but in general it is mostly addressed to UK new entrepreneurs.

I’ve read all Rachel’s other books and so was really looking forward to this one, and I wasn’t disappointed. If anything, this is actually a more useful and practical book that the earlier ones, which concentrate more on how other entrepreneurs made their fortunes. This one is full of sensible advise for those wanting to start off in business but who hasn’t got thousands of pounds to set it up with, such as how to set up an office, get a website up and running and how to get noticed and attract customers, sometimes without spending any money at all!Throughout the book she is also setting up her own business to put her ideas into practice which is a great idea and means she’s actually doing it herself rather than just talking about it. She’s also good at saying what type of businesses you should be setting up if you haven’t any money to spend, rather than what you might like to but which would be inappropriate, eg spending thousands of pounds and several years on researching and developing a totally new product, or signing an expensive lease for a shop. Instead she is all about sticking to your strengths, selling what people need rather than just want, using outsourcing in a loads of inventive ways and getting paid upfront if you can. And not shelling out vast amount of money you haven’t got!It is tightly written with lots of practical ideas rather than endless waffle and extremely relevant in this current climate. She illustrates her tips with lots of interesting case studies of other businesses too so you can see what worked for other people. Basically you don’t need to save up a massive pot of cash before you go it along – do it now!
