First Runner-Up in the 2006 Writer’s Notes Book Awards!

This book utilizes the strengths of children with ASD to help them develop new skills. Tasks are visually oriented and consistent, and expectations are clear. Children learn motor, matching, sorting, reading, writing, and math skills using easy-to-make “task boxes.”

Tasks include pushing items through small openings (children love the “resistance” it takes to push them through), matching simple, identical pictures or words, sorting objects by color, size, or shape, and more!

Ideas are plentiful, materials colorful, and children love the repetitive nature of the “tasks,” which help them learn to work independently! Sample data sheets are included.

    Full of Do-Able Ideas!
I don’t usually write reviews, but this book is so good, I had to take a minute to share my opinion. It contains dozens of brilliant ideas, projects and printables to help teach your autistic child to read. It has given us some much-needed hope. Thank you Ms. Henry!

    EXCELLENT RESOURCE
This resource is written with innovative and valuable concepts to teach language arts to autistic children. The CD is an important tool as I can easily download the graphics that accompany the concepts. Thank you Kimberly Henry for writing this book. I use it constantly!

    Awesome resource
I use this book everyday! There is a CD with reproducibles to use. I have many file folder tasks in my classrooms that have come from this book and other tasks set up that came from this book. It is a great buy!

I was really happy with the book but it requires the CD and it was not included. I was unaware of this when purchasing it so I was very disappointed. I would have given more stars if it was included.

Very disappointed with this book. I expected some research based strategies to help my students with autism. Instead it is a collection of outdated, simplistic activities. A quick Google would have been more helpful.
