Get ready for some dragon vs. dragon action! Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood” and set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the prequel series House of the Dragon tells the epic story of House Targaryen during the reign of King Viserys I Targaryen and the high drama that ensue when he installs his first-born child, Princess Rhaenyra, a dragonrider of pure Valyrian blood – as the first woman to be named heir to the Iron Throne. Season 2 will follow up on what’s already taken place. The death of King Viserys has triggered a succession crisis. Though his named heir is Princess Rhaenyra, his wife Queen Alicent and her father Otto Hightower have schemed to put Aegon II on the Iron Throne.

Although I felt like some episodes could have been better, this is still heating up to b special!
House of the Dragon Season 2 wastes no time in picking right back up where season 1 left off. Being as I never read any of George’s books, I have no idea how some of this will play out. I know how its gonna inevitably end cuz of Game of thrones. Even though I may know the fate of this worlds characters or at least most of them, House Of The Dragon continues to find ways to surprise you or catch you off guard and that all comes back to the excellent writer that George R R Martin is. Always managing to flip your expectations on their side!! Another great job done this time around is excellent actors who make you fall in love with them or despise them or be weary of and not trust a thing they say. But, This family feud has taken things to a new height by bringing dragons into their fights with their cousins and aunts. It is a tragic thing when 2 sides who came from the same beginnings almost, cannot find common ground and feel they have to resort violence to be able to co-exist or cease to completely. I love the casting for this season just like I loved it with the first season. And of course, there is nudity. What season of Game of Thrones has not featured nudity of some sort? The dragon scenes are done really well, and all the actors are top rate at their job cuz you would never know by looking at them that there never was any dragons there. The scenes are beautiful and harsh and capture the essence of why bringing a dragon into a fight is not always the best solution. But I did notice how it seemed to almost drag Season 2’s events out to finish strong with a 3rd season (doubt it goes any further than that) but with Hedge Knight and another Game of Thrones sub series in the works, it looks like we have a lot of Westeros left to explore soon. Great! I never can get enough of it!!! Season 3 cannot come soon enough!!

Flat intro and flat ending, only 8 episodes weakens this season
Warning bells probably should’ve sounded when news came that co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik abruptly left the show after season 1, and that HBO was only giving this season 8 episodes.Indeed, what remains of the show writers seem to be intent on proving that the more these shows (game of Thrones, house of the dragon) depart from the source material, the worse they get.The very first huge blunder was how they executed the Blood and Cheese incident, removing any and all tension by spending what felt like 5-10 minutes of us just watching them wander through the palace, then completely removing the initial horror of the incident (forcing Helaena to pick which son to die, then killing the son she did not pick, leaving the surviving son to live with the knowledge that his mother chose him to die) by not having Helaena make a Sophie’s Choice, a move which even seemed to irk George RR Martin (he specifically namedropped Maelor, the younger son, in his blog, the one who was chosen to die but spared). The rest of the episodes were generally fine, but felt like a whole lot of treading water. Then came the season finale, which was…… even more treading water. Literally just pieces moving on the game board and that’s it.This can’t help but feel like sabotage from the network. This season was only 8 episodes, and some of them were at most 5 or 10 minutes longer than usual, inflating the airtime at best to 9 episodes total. They very clearly were hamstrung by the lack of time and if they had been given 10 episodes they would have had enough time to cover everything they did as well as have a climactic final sea battle that is inevitably coming.Instead they had to cut out early, and with HBO’d lazy and sloppy new schedule, means people are essentially left unfulfilled and unsatisfied for 2 whole years.David Zaslav has been an unmitigated catastrophe as head of Warner Brothers Discovery, parent company of Max, ie HBO. His cheapness has meant the severe cutback on content in order to avoid paying actors and writers residuals (probably the main reason to cut the season down from 10 episodes to 8, so they only have to pay residuals for 8 episodes instead of 10), as well as actively sabotaging his own networks by canceling completed projects for a sleazy tax write off has drawn universal condemnation and hatred. His miserly business practices are clearly at work in this series, giving us a season that ended short of a true climactic finale.
