Great book for home studio production
Warren is one of my favorite producers online. His energy, compassion, charisma, enthusiasm and willingness to share his knowledge really made me want to produce more initially. This book really expands those principles further.Full of great knowledge, the authors really donât hold back. I knew it would be a great learning experience, full of knowledge the second I opened the book because the margins are like 1/2â and the text columns are 2 per page, which means thereâs not only over 400 pages, thereâs a ton of info packed into that space.There are some really great techniques covered, all the basics included. It discusses almost every entry aspect of having a home studio and expands beyond that.Good mindset and philosophy are also spread throughout this book, which are so lucrative to continuity in music, and some music production texts sacrifice that for the intellectual aspect of productionOverall, this book is a home engineer, producer or musician must. Do yourself a favor and invest in yourself & buy this book. You wonât regret it.

Best overall home recording manual.
Warren puts you at ease with his easy going eloquence and the approachability of his vast knowledge born from experience. I like the way he tells you what not to worry about, and what not to spend money on. Iâm a fan of his YouTube channel, Produce Like a Pro, but itâs nice to have everything you need to know in one book. For example, a friend of mine with a very nice studio attached to his house insists on the necessity of having a summing amp. Iâd never heard of such a thing and couldnât wrap my mind around its purpose. Searching online got me no closer to an appreciation of this supposed marvel. Reading Warrenâs book lays it all out in plain, easy to find terms. Basically, he says, if you already have a decent mixing board like a Soundcraft, youâre covered. If not, they can be found used and wonât break the bank. I already have a 16-track Soundcraft, so I can rest easy knowing Iâm not missing an important piece of the puzzle. Thank you!

I have been following Warren Huart and his Produce Like a Pro YouTube channel since I found it in 2014. Not long after, I joined the Academy, went to a couple Master Classes, and even took private lessons. This man is an incredible wealth of knowledge, a total gentleman, patient, kind, passionate about music, and genuinely wants us to learn and succeed in our musical journeys. This book allows me, and you, to reference any number of recording, mixing, and producing topics real time. So that you can keep your creative process moving. No matter if you are needing a quick reference for a mic’ing technique, using Eq or Compression, or trying to set up some studio monitors, it’s there and easy to find. I initially purchased to book to support Warren Huart & Jerry Hammack. Warren is doing wonderful things for the up-and-coming audio community, and he’s helping the seasoned professionals too by trading experience across many genres and facets of production. After receiving the book a few days ago I decided to give it a full read through, and it’s jam packed with foundational skills of production all the way through navigation and strategies through the many lanes of the music industry.This book is almost an encyclopedia of must have information for anyone who wants to succeed in this business. Knowing these two authors, I had high expectations for this release. Warren and Jerry did not disappoint! Way to go, fellas! I admit I’m usually skeptical of anything that claims to be a “complete” guide. But this book is massive… in size and scope. The information is organized and presented clearly and concisely. And, these shared insights are based on real-world experience, delivered in an easy to understand format that makes an ideal hands-on reference manual. Much easier to use than wading through dozens of saved YouTube videos trying to remember where you saw the info you need.Someday, perhaps, I’ll buy a hardcover for my bookshelf, and get Warren and Jerry to sign it, but for now, I ordered the paperback edition because I plan to treat this as a working part of my studio. This baby will get beaten up, folded, faded, notated, dog eared and worn out. And, I couldn’t be happier. I’m guessing the authors would approve. ð
