Good little short story.
Iâve read all the books in the Bree Taggert series so I knew I was going to enjoy this short story. I like to look back at how Dana and Bree were before they became close and before everything happened. This was an enjoyable little mystery.

Excellent
This was a short story but worth it. Any book by Melinda Leigh is sure to be a hit. The characters are very real and the story is raw emotions. I recommend this short story

Short and action filled, but why?
Her Second Death follows Bree Taggert on her first case as a homicide detective. Short and sweet, case solved. Perhaps intended to provide an extra bit of Bree’s back story, having already read the first three books in the Bree Taggert series, this one did nothing for me. Maybe another book in the series features Bree’s first partner, experienced homicide detective Dana Romano. If so, maybe this short makes sense as a workshop study piece. Otherwise, this one amounts to little more than somewhat annoying Kindle click bait. There currently seems to be a big surge in the novella format. It’s like Amazon’s AI has already deduced that our collective attention span is too short even for novellas, enticing readers to Amazon’s further abbreviated “Vella” line. I guess it’s akin to advertising via movie trailers, television teasers, or the extra segments moviegoers have come to expect during the credits plus the occasional after credit micro-segment. Barring some possible benefit to future Bree Taggert books, Her Second Death might be best suited as a time filler for a flight from Philly to DC, Dallas to Houston, or LA to Vegas if you are otherwise between books and reluctant to handle the possibly contaminated airline magazine in the seat pocket in front of you.

Well written
Short and to the point. Great story. It takes skill to write a short story like this when for most authors it would be much longer.

Good Cop Story
The first book in this series introduces you to the characters in the Bree Taggert Mysteryseries. And so it begins the trials and joys a lady cop experiences!

good short story
Thereâs probably a list somewhere to read these various series in order. Iâm reading out of order, but still enjoying. Enjoy reading some earlier time periods knowing how the various characters come together later. Good stand alone short story when you want a quick read (under 30 min)

Partners then and later.
I really like to read a prequel because they let you how things were before the stories evolved. This is short and sweet. Thanks to Melinda Leigh for always knowing and providing her readers with what they want.

I have loved the entire Bree Taggert series. I really enjoy this author’s writing style. Engaging and a good pace. I was always racing to get to the end, but also gutted to have done so!Went onto the Morgan Dane series after this. I love the strong female leads.

A quick easy mystery to read. However, the book was way too short to produce any actual character depth and flesh out the plot.
