Do you ever suspect that everyone else has life figured out and you don’t have a clue? If so, Rachel Hollis has something to tell you: that’s a lie.
If you have ever said any of these things to yourself…something else will make me happy; I’m not a good mom; I will never get past this; I am defined by my weight; I should be further along by now…then you could benefit from the unflinching faith and rock-hard tenacity Rachel Hollis has in store for you. In this challenging but conversational audiobook, Rachel exposes the 20 lies and misconceptions that too often hold us back from living joyfully and productively, lies we’ve told ourselves so often we don’t even hear them anymore.
Rachel is real and talks about real issues. More than that, she reveals the specific practical strategies that helped her move past them. In the process, she encourages, entertains, and even kicks a little butt, all to convince you to do whatever it takes to get real and become the joyous, confident woman you were meant to be. Because you really can live with passion and hustle – and give yourself grace without giving up.

This book can change your life if you let it!
Right from the beginning of the introduction it grabbed me!âYou, and only you, are ultimately responsible for who you become and how happy you are.âGuys how powerful is that?!?So the basic premise of the book is Rachel addressing 20 lies that have been instrumental in her life. At the end of each chapter, she discusses three specific, tangible ways she addressed that lie. The overall goal is to teach you self-awareness to identify the lies you tell yourself and to target those head on. Although I did not identify with each and every lie during this season of my life, I got a little something out of every chapter. I can totally see myself re-reading this book once or twice a year and gaining something new every time.At first I was afraid that because I donât have children I wouldnât get anything from the book, but that is totally not true! Yes, Rachel talks about her children and being a mother but thatâs not what the book is about. This book came along at the perfect time in my life to slap me in the face and light a fire under my butt. Seriously, I needed motivation some kind of bad and this book was life changing for me. I also loved that Rachel dropped in little religious tidbits. It wasnât necessarily a âChristian bookâ but had just enough in there to let me know Jesus sent this book my way.Rachel is real and raw and in your face but at this season in my life thatâs what I needed. Donât pick it up if youâre passive about making some changes. Or maybe do pick it up and itâll slap you around like it did me. Either way every woman needs this book whether youâre 18 or 80 there truly is something for everyone.Top three things I learned from this book:1. Stop making and keeping promises to everyone else and start keeping promises to your own dang self!2. No one decides how big your dreams can be but YOU. Also write down your goals and speak them aloud3. Gods has perfect timing.4. Ok one more because I canât narrow it down to three â EMBRACE THE CHAOS AND LOVE THE LIFE YOU ARE LIVING, RIGHT NOW, TODAY!I could sit here and quote this whole book because itâs that good but because I want you to go out and buy it for yourself, Iâm going to leave you with some of my favorite quotes/advice/âYou must choose to be happy, grateful and fulfilled. If you make that choice every single day, regardless of where you are or whatâs happening, you will be happy.ââYou are in charge of your own life, and thereâs not one thing in it that youâre not allowing to be there.ââNobody â not a voice of authority, not your mama, not the foremost expert in your arena â gets to tell you how big your dreams can be. They can talk all they wantâ¦but you get to decide if youâre willing to listen to themââYour dream is worth fighting for, and while youâre not in control of what life throws at you, you are in control of the fight.ââNothing that lasts is accomplished quickly. Nobodyâs entire legacy is based on a single moment, but rather the collection of oneâs experiences. If youâre lucky, your legacy will be a lifetime in the making.ââPretty good is way better than trying to fake perfection any day of the week.ââGod has perfect timing. Maybe that goal wasnât ever meant to be yours. Maybe you have to walk through this space that youâre in to be ready for that. Nothing is wasted. Every single moment is preparing you for the next.ââSomeone elseâs opinion of you is none of your business.ââDonât hide your light under a bushel because youâre too afraid someone wonât like the glare.âOkay Iâm going to stop now because seriously thereâs just too much good stuff in this book! Go pick it up for yourself! Borrow it from the library if you have to. Several chapters from the audiobook are listed on Rachelâs podcast, Rise, which is also awesome all by itself.Instagram @mrsrachelhollisWebsite: thechicsite.comPodcast: Rise by Rachel Hollis

speak your truth
I love that Rachel speaks her truth without editing herself. No apologies, she is who she is. I can tell she wrote this book for herself and to help others, which is sometimes a rare occurrence in Life these days. FANTASTIC !!!!

Worthy of reading and/or listening to again and again!
Iâm not sure why or how I havenât written a formal review of this AMAZING AND INSPIRING book despite me singing its praises for the last few months; despite watching Rachel speak live at Book Bonanza 2018. Perhaps itâs because I felt like Iâve already communicated and shouted from the rooftops and referred and sung to the world that this is a MUST READ BOOK. Correction: this is a MUST-LISTEN to book. But I canât stop there. So, hereâs me formally giving this work of awesome prose 5+++++ STARS.Rachel Hollis gives a stellar audio performance as she reads her own words. Words of encouragement and courage and empowerment. I can tell she genuinely believes in them from her tone and the sheer conviction in her voice. I can also feel the emotion as she shares some very painful, sad, and sometimes embarrassing moments from her own life. She uses them as examples to build an empathetic base; she knows the heartache, the hurt, the anger. It makes you relate. It made me relate.Yet what resonated with me was not only her advice of how she got through the hard times, but the self-assurances she tells herself and the way she addresses you: the listener or reader. Her words give no excuses. Rather, they lead you to forgive yourself, and accept past actions. To always move forward, even if itâs an inch. And if you fall down, she lends a hand/advice/mindset on how to get back up again. What Iâve learned in the last few months after listening, is that reinforcement is key. You can listen/read this book once and get on the high to do more, be more. But that quickly fades as life and other media settle back in.So what did I do?I listen. Again and again. I turn on a chapter as Iâm driving, doing chores, or relaxing on the couch.Donât have the Audio book?Follow Rachel on Instagram. She has a channel and daily posts that remind you of those positive messages to get your day and your headspace started on the right foot. All this being said, I realize a lot of the advice she gives are concepts Iâve heard before. What makes Rachel different is her. How she presents everything just speaks to me. She has a demeanor that I respect. Maybe itâs because Iâve been following her for several years now, watching her practice what she now preaches. Whatever the reason, it appears Iâm not alone in such thinking. And Iâm so very thankful as the world needs more spokespersons like her on the stage to constantly be our cheerleader amidst the overwhelming negativity.PS: Rachel if on the off-chance that youâre reading this, in the words of Colleen Hoover: âPush your boundaries, that’s what theyâre there forâ. Thanks for that constant reminder â¤ï¸

This was a gift to my mom and she loved it. We both read it together and it is an amazing read. It is not like you havenât heard what Rachel wants to say before, but the way she sits it hits you at all the right places. Sheâs just serves all the harsh truths with such subtlety that you can do nothing but actually think about it. Itâs not the motivation that she gives in the book but retrospection that takes places once you have finished reading. And thatâs the sign of a good book.

Trying to sit here and figure out how to write a review that will accurately describe the power of this book….and Iâm at a bit of a loss for the right words. This book is literally a game changer! No matter what you do, where you come from, what your life looks like.. you will gain so much from reading âGirl, Wash your Faceâ. Rachelâs honesty about the lies she once believed about herself completely resonates with the struggles we face as women. She has walked the same trenches as many of us are walking and gives direct, specific and tangible advice about ways to help and come through the other side as a better, stronger version of yourself. Her ability to motivate comes from true and honest experience. Guaranteed you will finish this book feeling encouraged, and motivated to start living towards a better you. Sometimes we need a kick start with our goals, a shift in our perspective or the encouragement to pick ourselves up and keep trying.. this is it folks! Also, I will mention, that as a busy new mom… the audible version was amazing…having the book read to you by Rachel herself while having the freedom to fold the laundry, drive, or get ready in the morning, makes this book even more practical for those who find it hard to find the time to sit down and get into a good book!Donât know if I have ever said in my life I was truly grateful for a book…. but this one… without hesitation… I am.

Maravilloso libro. Altamente recomendado!!!
