In this full-length film that inspired the hit Travel Channel series, Zak Bagans, Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin visit the Old Washoe Club in Virginia City, Nevada, and the Goldfield Hotel in Goldfield, Nevada—two of the most notoriously haunted sites in America. During the height of their existence, the two infamous locations were the scene of rape, murder, and other crimes of passion…a recipe for trapped souls. Prepare yourself for the creepiest footage ever caught on tape: where others won’t set foot, the team witnesses a full-bodied apparition, a poltergeist that sends them running, and more shocking evidence that proves ghosts exist.

Magnificent…
I have been a fan of the Ghost Adventures television show for some time now. I find it more entertaining than any other ghost hunting show on TV. I used to watch Ghost Hunters, but I have found the show to consistently get more and more stale and I hate the fact that they debunk anything and everything, finding even the most ridiculous ‘explanation’ for everything. That, to me, makes the show boring, because they’re not capturing any evidence and instead proving everything wrong. It’s almost like the Ghost Hunters crew are trying to prove that ghosts do not exist, when, if you’re like me, you know they do, then it’s almost borderline offensive. Plus, the GH crew has a camera crew following them around and it doesn’t give you that connection to any of the actual crew. That’s where the biggest difference between GH and GA lies- GA is more intimate, as the only cameras they have are the ones that Zak, Nick and Aaron carry, as well as the static ones that they set up, and they are actually trying to prove the existence of ghosts. Now, that’s not to say that Zak Bagans, Nick Groff, and Aaron Goodwin don’t know the difference between a legitimate paranormal activity and something perpetrated by light or any other common factors. Indeed, GA does try to debunk things that could obviously be explained by something logical, but they don’t try to debunk something that is clearly paranormal. Another thing that the GA crew brings that the GH crew lacks is their energy and their love for what they are doing. It’s fun to watch their reactions to the things that occur, although throughout the show, I have not seen them react the way that they do in this documentary.I can honestly say that this is probably the best thing that the GA crew has ever done, and that’s saying a LOT. They have some phenomenal episodes of their show, such as Bobby Mackey’s Music World and Rolling Hills Sanitarium, but nothing comes close to this documentary. Some of the evidence they capture is downright bone chilling, such as the apparition that walks across the ballroom at the Washoe Club or the brick flying in the Goldview Hotel. Absolutely incredible material, and while some people may think it’s fake, I honestly don’t. I don’t see Zak as being the kind of person to fake evidence just so people will watch. Zak is too passionate about proving the existence of ghosts, and that kind of passion only comes from somebody that has experienced something paranormal after being a skeptic, as he was.Their reactions to some of these events are incredibly funny to watch, especially if you have watched the show before you saw this documentary. In the show, they stand their ground, and Zak gets angry if any of them run. However, in this documentary, there are two different instances where they run and scream from whatever they just experienced. In fact, after the brick throwing sequence, Zak and Nick are so terrified that they escape the Goldview Hotel using a second story fire escape. It’s fun to watch and it shows us just how human they are, even though in the show they act like nothing scares them.I can’t say enough about this documentary. It’s never boring and they capture some great evidence and give excellent backstory on the locations that they investigate. I recommend this to anyone that is interested in ghost hunting, and to anyone that has become bored with GH, then you have a new, younger crew to satiate your craving for all things paranormal. Five out of five.

The beginning of Ghost Adventures!
Ghost adventures was never the best looking show on TV but I think that always worked in its favor at feeling genuine. This documentary never actually felt like one and instead felt like one long episode of the show which I loved as I’m not really into the typical format of how documentaries are. It starts right off the bat with Zak, Nick, and Aaron investigating Nevada as they go to the Old Washoe Club, and the Goldfield Hotel while returning for one final investigation without Aaron. The information given by Zak and by the locals that shared their experiences were all interesting and had me hooked! It was their starting point so I understand why the guys were completely serious and not talking to each other/making funny remarks but compared to how they are in the entirety of the show, this felt rather dry and not as fun as their lock downs and adventures usually are… Still, I think its worth a watch especially towards Halloween as its both creepy yet nostalgic of the early 2000s!Filmed in 2004 but released officially on DVD in 2010, this 480p DVD looks stunning at times with the amount of detail and color that pops out of it. Other times.. not so much as the picture quality has suffered quite a bit by looking dated and not touched up or enhanced but it works in its favor by keeping all the footage completely authentic and natural as it was filmed. For context, the picture is presented in Wide-screen but can be full screen (no black bars) if you have a DVD player or TV that converts it, either way it looks amazing! It doesn’t specify the sound quality but I’m guessing its Dolby 2.0 Stereo, the standard sound format back then. Regardless, sound quality is great as the scary atmospheric music played on all my surround speakers with powerful bass from my subwoofer coming out during few scenes. Voice quality from everyone was impressive as it was very clean and clear from start to finish being able to hear and understand everything being said. EVP quality was also top notch as everything said by the spirits/ghosts was audible unlike how it sometimes isn’t on the TV show.

Original documentary that started it all!
I remember watching this documentary that takes place in the town of Goldfield, Nevada in the early 2000’s and it blew my mind. It really was 3 dudes without a camera crew going in and getting some wild footage! I still love it and miss the original 3 dudes,no camera crew style.

Truly a fantastic documentary & anyone who’s big into the paranormal…
These guys are the real deal when it comes to paranormal investigating & wanting to find answers about life after death, especially the lead investigator Zak Bagans! I first saw this on YouTube since I recently got back into “Ghost Adventures” the TV series, from watching it kinda on/off initially, but got into it way more this past May, have been hooked on it ever since..As soon as I saw there was a documentary film with the same name, I decided to check it out, & honestly, I thought it was pretty awesome!!For me, personally, this is actually what started my major crush on Zak Bagans, because let’s face it, he’s a very good looking guy, but with that said, that’s not the main focus for me, it’s just PART of it…So I thought this was a really great documentary & decided to purchase as my early Xmas gift for myself as I’ve had a very hard time this year dealing with alot of stress relating to doing so much for my family member, due to their health, etc. & it can be pretty overwhelming with everything I’ve been dealing with.Truly a great documentary & for anyone who’s a fan of the TV series of the same name…Highly recommend if you do not have this! 5/5 stars

Exactly what I was looking for. Wasn’t expecting anything in terms of special features. Best documentary in regards to the paranormal, perfect for fans of the TV series that followed afterwards or fans of paranormal in general.

I’m not going to give anything away, all I will say is if you are a none believer then I would recommend you buy this, as I’m sure by the end you will be a complete believer. Can’t wait for series 3 and 4 to come out on DVD.
