Better than using microsoft office. Easier to use.
Word Perfect has always been a great product. the price point is good for our home office use. This is what my wife uses almost exclusively. working with various printers is much better than some other word products. It provides all the functionality we need and is much easier to use that microsoft office. It not for OpenOffice suite, I would only use Word Perfect. Excellent product. I hope it stays this way!

Very easy to install with the DISK version.
The seriel number is a bit long and requires the dashs as written. This product has all that I need without breaking the bank on a subscription to Microsoft. this is a very good price and has all that I need for home use.

Much Better Than MS Word for Writing
Ages ago, I was a WordPerfect user. I recently returned to Corel after getting fed up with MS Office forcing changes and trying to format my work in ways I didn’t want. I’d imagine some readers of this review have had similar issues as well as a whole new set of problems IF you’re even able to turn off the auto formatting options. So let’s focus on the product here though.WordPerfect has a few features that I absolutely love. First is that you can point the cursor ANYWHERE on the page and just start typing. No arcane combination of carriage returns and tabs to try to get the cursor where you want it. Second is the ability to put a box for a graphic onto the page, and then fill it with whatever you want. It’s similar to desktop publishing layout control. Anything you write just formats around the boundaries of the graphic. If you do anything that requires a mix of text and graphics, WordPerfect is amazing. It’s also easy to save documents in a PDF format with no extra software or plug-ins.The drawback for some people will be that the task bar isn’t colorful and shiny like newer versions of Office. It looks like the old style Office before the big primary feature buttons were added. Personally, I’d rather have software than works than looks pretty.Corel’s version of Power Point is called Presentations, and it’s similar enough to the MS program that I think most users could easily switch.Quattro is the only part of the software package I have to knock. The controls aren’t that clear and I couldn’t even find the button to center data in the cell I was working on. All this could just be a lack of familiarity and something that could be cleared up with a few YouTube videos, but for now, I prefer Excel over Quattro, despite MS’s annoying “I know what format you want better than you do” problem existing in Excel also.I gave the software a 5 star “Value for money” rating because I caught it on a huge Christmas sale. Corel also allows installation on two computers instead of one like MS. Also, IN THE PAST, Corel has been much freer with allowing re-installation if I replaced a hard drive, or a whole computer. I have no idea how cooperative they are nowadays, but I suspect little has changed there.

I dropped it down for ease of use coming from Word.
I mostly got this for the spreadsheet app. I worked daily with some pretty complex spreadsheets using Excel. Trying to create a spreadsheet using this app was pretty difficult because nothing well many things do not operate like Excel. Formatting and sorting even copy paste proved to be really difficult to do and it was not intuitive. I had to look up everything and still simple things like copy paste did not make it easy to do. I guess if you have used this application it would be great and I like that you can buy it and own it. If Microsoft had that option I would have bought that because I have lots of experience. I am only going to use it infrequently so I am not going to spend the time to get proficient on it. I went back to openoffice which had a difficult time opening one of the files so it took a few attempts to even do that.I am sure it does a lot of things but for me and your experience might be different is that it is not intuitive at all and even the photo app was a challenge to do even simple things.

Full Disclosure: I used WordPerfect at work way back in the 1980’s and at home and at work in the 1990’s. Back then, it was a superior product to Microsoft Word and, after it was purchased by the Corel Corporation, I would often have interesting debates with my peers about their use and support of the inferior Microsoft Word, produced and sold by an American company, instead of supporting the superior WordPerfect produced and sold by a Canadian company.Even though it was a superior product and dominated the market for a time, WordPerfect had little chance of competing in a growing world software market dominated by Microsoft. WordPerfect became a textbook example of a superior product losing much of their market share to an inferior one backed by an endless supply of cash and aggressive marketing strategy.In the early 2000’s, I began using Microsoft Office at home and at work as the organizations I worked for used it and I did a lot of my work from home. I became quite proficient in its use and noticed it getting better as time went on. After retiring, I was on my own for an office suite. I found Microsoft’s moneygrubbing scheme of “renting” their Microsoft 365 software on an annual basis, repugnant. The outright purchase of Microsoft Office Home & Student at $170 CAD was a little more palatable to me, but in recent years Microsoft has shown that they cannot be fully trusted to support their products for their expected life/usefulness and that they can (and will) change the rules on consumers any time they please.In looking for a replacement for Microsoft Office, I tried the free Apache OpenOffice and found it to be a decent free option, but it was not really what I was looking for. Corel WordPerfect Office Home & Student 2021 was on sale on Amazon and I purchased it. Software continually changes, often for no logical reason but rather to keep development fluid and moving (anyone who uses Microsoft Windows can attest to this – change for the sake of change, in many cases void of any evident purpose or benefit), and I was blown away by how easy it was to use WordPerfect 20-some years after I last used it.After using it again, do I believe that the Corel WordPerfect Office suite is better than Microsoft’s Office suite in 2022? Well, there are some definite advantages in word processing such as the reveal codes, keyboard shortcuts and superior formatting options that many professional users prefer, but Microsoft has also made some great strides in their Word software over the past 20 years and I would say the two are closer to being equal in function and productivity for the average user these days.It is true that to realize the full potential of WordPerfect, some users would have a bit of a learning curve. However, as someone who has experience using both Microsoft and Corel word processing programs, I believe that most users (including those who have previously only used Microsoft Word) who just need a good word processor to handle their day-to-day written communications would have little problem using WordPerfect out of the box. Quattro Pro and Presentations are comparable to their Microsoft counterparts, Excel and PowerPoint. Corel includes Lightning, a note taking app and After Shot 3, a photo editing and management app in their Home & Office suite. At this writing, Amazon.ca is selling: WordPerfect Office Home & Student 2021 (physical disc) for $65 [sale], Microsoft Office Home & Student 2021 (download) for $170, and Microsoft 365 (download including OneNote, Outlook and OneDrive) can be “rented” for 365 days for $75 [sale].
