This thing is super duper awesome
The Backbone is nearly perfect for what it’s designed to do. The controller is comfy, lightweight and the buttons/analogs feel snappy and responsive. It attaches and detaches to the iPhone simply and quickly, and immediately goes to work once attached. I gave this five stars because I am loving it and having a blast, but there are actually a few (very minor) drawbacks:1. Even with the adapters that come with the Backbone, I have to take my phone out of its case. I’m even using a low-profile Spigen hard case, and the lightning plug just won’t reach all the way with the case on. Not a huge setback but a little disappointing.2. The “Start” and “Select” buttons (ellipsis and stacked lines) are accompanied by an orange system button and a screenshot button on the right and left sides, respectively. If you’re doing Xbox Remote Play and you try to pause a game or bring up a menu in-game, you’re very likely to hit one of the Backbone buttons (orange or screenshot), which immediately kicks you over to the Backbone app and ends your Remote Play session. I accidentally do this about half the time. It’s REALLY annoying. As I get used to the Backbone I am doing this less, so it’s really a personal preference thing, but still. I kill my Remote session constantly and have to reconnect while I’m in the heart of the action playing a game. You might be able to re-map these buttons but I haven’t gotten that far yet.Overall, I love the product and recommend it. Worth the money and very very fun!

Versatile mobile gaming platform
honestly, this thing rules.bought it so that I could play the new Hoyoverse game Zenless Zone Zero on the go, and while it is great for that, i also discovered that this thing offers quite a bit more. call of duty mobile is suprisingly feature rich, with modes and responsiveness good enough to be fun in the same way normal cod multiplayer is on console. the solo leveling mobile game is also really good, its another hack and slash like zzz that really benefits from having a physical controller as opposed to the default touch controls. there are also the other two hoyoverse games to play, and more substatial games on the horizon like a mobile version of siege. there are even mobile app versions of gamecube, psp, and other older console emulators for playing classics from years past on the fly. if you’re really clever, im sure you can even rig it up to play modern switch games. you can also game stream from your ps5, xbox, or computer, which works suprisingly great for games that aren’t too reflex intense like racing games. there is just a lot of content out there for this device (and much of that content is completely free).construction is pretty solid, it doesn’t feel like cheap plastic and it’s already survived a couple of drops on the floor. this version accommodates my galaxy s23 ultra phone even with the case on. the buttons are nice and clicky, if a little stiff and shallow and the joysticks are substantial enough to feel like you have fine directional control. the app is relatively useless, a game launcher isn’t really necessary on a mobile platform, but it isn’t very intrusive either, it just opens the app if you have it installed when plugged in.bought on prime day for 30% off, but honeslty, even at full price, this thing is pretty compelling. it’s essentially a mini-sized steam deck for a fraction of the price. there is a gen 1 and gen 2 if you wanna save a little and get the old version, but i recommend the ps5 gen 2 version if you are on android and you want to use ps5 remote play, as that feature won’t work with the standard versions if you’re on android.

Very solid buy for the value – Makes taking the bus to the city or a long drive a lot more fun
I’ve been looking at this thing for the last year contemplating if I should even get it because I have remote play just use my phone or tablet whatever I saw was on sale for like 70 bucks prime day, I have to say it’s very interesting It has better connection from what I see from the regular remote play and it gives you about three different kinds of perks month free Backbone service which gives you all free games from like Xbox and sPc ( So having a PS five, this is pretty cool because I’ve never had something like this Or I can go and choose) But I have to say playing ghost of Tsushima -Mortal Kombat one devil may cry five- Resident evil 23 and four- it looks absolutely amazing Don’t get me wrong you’ll still have some lag here in there, but for the most part, it should be clean sailing when it comes to traveling and keeping up to date with ur PlayStation 5 along with all this stuff, this will hold me over until the next PlayStation Vida, which I heard a rumor may come out with PlayStation five Pro and will be able to be compatible with the pro and PlayStation six, so that should be really cool if it acts like the Wii (Nintendo ) That was so far I was thinking about getting the portal, ( I really wanted that to be the next Vita ) but a backbone is half the price and it’s not made cheap it feels good ( And if you have an iPhone 15 or an iPhone 15 Pro, you’re going to be playing at a better resolution than the PlayStation portal anyway. Only thing I would say that I dislike is the fact the two joysticks are not exactly lined up the way they are on a regular PlayStation -4/five remote – The haptic feedback is awesome. The fact you can take pictures of your game and record it and keep it on your phone instead of having to go into an app pretty cool. I would honestly say I’d give this a 4.6out of five. With my only dislikes being the analog sticks And if you’re playing certain fighting games, you better have a good connection PlayStation five with an Ethernet cable ( And try to get smaller than 25 feet long something to do with drop in speed ) when I’m at work when I’m on my break after I eat, I play for a half hour when I’m home. I’ll sit by the pool and play. It makes it a lot easier to enjoy and other good games through Backbone during the summer without missing anything, as easily as you shut it down turn it off you could fire it right back up. And continue where you left off So many PROs & very little Cons Hope this was helpful -future buyers
