Lady Genevieve Cottrel has spent the past two years mourning both the loss of her father and her former life. Once a cherished daughter, she is now little more than a servant in her own home. Struggling to hold on to her hope and dignity, Genevieve’s world is further upended by the sudden appearance of a mysterious Earl—an enigmatic man with far too much interest in the Cottrel estate and her circumstances. Though she is drawn to him, his evasive explanations leave her questioning his true intentions.
Genevieve wants to believe that the handsome stranger has good intentions, but he’s not making it easy…
Leonard Thorne, Duke of Alnwick, carries the weight of two burdens since his father’s death—taming his wayward brother and finding the missing daughter of his father’s closest friend. His search leads him to the Cottrel household, where he is unexpectedly captivated by a young maid whose spirit and grace stir something deep within him. But Leonard cannot afford distractions, and his honor compels him to focus on his duties. Yet, there is something about this woman he simply cannot ignore…
Will Leonard understand that though the mind may falter, the heart simply knows the truth?
As Genevieve and Leonard grow closer, their undeniable connection becomes impossible to resist. But with Genevieve tied to a life of servitude and Leonard bound to his responsibilities as Duke, they both know their time together is fleeting. Will Leonard uncover the truth of Genevieve’s identity in time to save her from her deceitful relatives? Or will they be forced to part, forever denying the love that has blossomed between them?

Great Story to Read
This is a great story to read, when Evies father died and the Earl title pass to his brother, instead of help her during her emotional grief, they made her believe that her father had died with a lot of debts and did not left her any money. So they told her to work as a maid in their household to pay for her keep and her father’s debt. In the end the Duke that was looking for her found her and that is when the story really gets interesting. A great job Felicia !

Evie and Leo
I have mixed feelings about this book. Ms Sinclair has the makings to be a good author but there is room for improvement. It’s a good story with fine character development but the plot could use some work. The story is reminiscent of another novel that I read with a similar plot. Some thoughts that came to mind: Why a marquee? If a duke wants to stay under the radar of the earl, he should have chosen a lower position.Several times there were jumps or repeats in the storyline. But good editing will help.Scarcely any mistakes with the mechanics of the story.Like with all things, practice makes perfect.Overall, a good story and I did enjoy reading it.Thanks, Eliza

Finding the truth
Sheâs was a lady but her relatives have put her in servitude as a maid. Heâs a Duke with to many task to do and is sent to find a daughter of his fathers old friend. But he finds her as he seems to think that itâs not as it seems. Will he figure it out and find something that heâs been needing? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Beautiful story
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this sweet story. Ms Sinclair masterfully led us, with Evie and Leo, from their awkward and sarcastic introduction to their adorable little family. Each bump along their journey was dealt with well. Hats off to this new author!

An interesting story
This is an interesting story. However, I do think that there is not very much depth in it.

good story
This is a good story. It has a sweet lady being treated like a maid and an old friend looking for her. It has some real twists and turns that will keep you reading to find out what will happen.

Good read!
I enjoyed this book even though there were no surprises and the plot is very simular to other books I’ve read. I did enjoy the characters. You either love them or hate them. Lady Genevieve was precious, loosing her father and then putting up with her nasty Aunt and Uncle. Leonard Thorne, the Duke of Alwick had problems of his own, a wayward brother and a missing daughter of his fatherâs very good friend. He is determined to find her. Definitely a worthwhile read.

I really enjoyed this story. Duke Leo was searching for a young lady that his dying father had asked him to discover.. Evie was living with her aunt and uncle, after the death of her parents. They regarded her as a maid and treated her badly. Her aunt was obnoxious and I kept wanting someone to put her in her place. I was glad when Evie managed to stand up for herself at times. Leo came across Evie when she was dressed as a maid. He asked her about a girl who had lived in the house but she denied all knowledge of her. He kept his true identity a secret as well. Gradually they develop a friendship but it had to be in secret because Evie’s aunt was determined that Leo should marry her daughter and not be interested in a maid. Leo realised that something was suspicious and set out to discover what really happened to Evie’s family fortune. Will he right the wrongs that have been done to Evie? Will Evie be reinstated to her true position? Will they find love? Read on and enjoy.

A charming story to read tucked up on a Winterâs day. A back story to unpick, and characters who change as the story progresses and the hidden becomes clear!
