Blast from the past
Watching these episodes of old TV westerns was comforting as well as entertaining. There were a few I was not familiar with, but we enjoyed every moment and wished for more. I seldom watch modern/contemporary westerns unless they are something special like Tombstone or Lonesome Dove because I grew up watching these TV cowboys in simpler times.

A look in to the past
I wonder where they dug up some of these shows. Many are part of the TV history but many did not last long. In some cases they started out a serials that played in the movie theaters. Once TV came of age they made these serials in to half hour shows. Another area where these shows started out was the radio. The Lone Ranger, which got it’s start as a weekly radio show, was then turned in to a TV series as well as Gun smoke.

I was not aware that this is not CC so no subtitles. I bought it for my hearing impaired dad. Good shows but he cannot hear it. I wish I had paid more attention to the details.

Einige der Serien liefen, (meist in geringer Folgenzahl) auch in Deutschland: The Texan (Der Texaner), Frontier Doctor (Bill Baxter, Arzt im Wilden Westen), The Texas Ranger (Texas Ranger) Yancy Derringer (dto), Judge Roy Bean (Richter Roy Bean) und High Chaparral.

DVD was exactly as described on the tin. 30 Classic Western TV shows from the past. Brilliant value for money and speedy delivery too. These are very old American TV shows, so don’t expect HD video quality. In my opinion the graininess adds to the nostalgia !
