Basic but Powerful
I have seen numerous reviews saying this book is for someone who doesn’t know anything about marketing and how it is really only the basics of marketing, but for someone trying to get a website up and running and trying to start my company, I thought this book was perfect. It goes through a sales funnel, in its basic form yes, but a fantastic start. It goes into the types of emails (Nurture and sales emails) as well as creating your website and even a one-liner. Overall, I am pleased with this book and thought it was a great introduction to marketing.

Super Helpful Guide! Felt Less Overwhelmed Getting Started With My Company’s Website.
I’m still in the middle of the book but so far its extremely helpful. I so much appreciate people that can make things simple and clear to understand. I’m working on building my company’s website and brand and this is just, without-a-doubt, so peace giving! One thing I will say to the author or the author’s editor is that there are a LOT of sentence errors. For example page 58 has two in almost one paragraph:1. “I often get asked, “What order would be put these sections in?”There are some words missing in that sentence. And just below that there’s,2. “At the end of a couple short hours, the hundreds of businesses leaders in the room have wireframes a website that will work.”I think you meant *business leaders.*Things like that are pretty common in this book and if you’re trying to build trust with your readers, that your materials DO in fact work, it might be worth making sure things are grammatically correct since the context of the book is all about choice of WORDS, etc.I certainly give you the benefit of the doubt, though. The content truly is great and really helpful. Just something to consider revising if you haven’t already. :)Cheers!

Great walkthrough on creating funnels, lots of detail
This book was comprehensive. The most helpful section was on creating your website’s home page and making it effective for getting sales. All throughout, there was a lot of “duh, why didn’t I think of that?” and no doubt, this book gave me a clear plan of attack for each stage of the funnel I’ll be building. Perfect balance of “how” and “why”.However, I *highly* suggest reading this in tandem with The Copywriter’s Handbook (4th Edition) by Robert W. Bly. There were countless times in Marketing Made Simple where I thought, “oh yeah, they really talked about how to flesh that out in The Copywriter’s Handbook.” Its section on coming up with effective headlines (which you can use in the subject line of your marketing emails) alone is worth buying that book. Donald suggests you hire a copywriter at various points throughout Marketing Made Simple, but if you plan on doing the all of the writing yourself, you’re definitely gonna want to pick that up. These two books go together like PB + J.While I believe those two books alone are all you need to create a great sales funnel, I always find it useful when Amazon reviewers discuss other books they found helpful. So, if you really want to “flesh out” your knowledge and expand on what is covered here, I think you’ll get lots of mileage out of Everybody Writes by Ann Handley and this new book I’ve started called The Content Marketing Handbook (also by Robert W. Bly). These books will help you craft the emails you send out in your nurture campaign â as discussed in this book â and will help ensure your writing is purposeful and fully empathizes with the customer’s needs. You can also use this knowledge for blog posts to drive traffic and establish your authority. But don’t take that to mean that Marketing Made Simple isn’t worth the read. If it’s the only book you buy, you’ll still be miles ahead at creating an effective funnel compared to where you were before. So why did I give it 4 stars? Well, on mobile, the pictures are all cut off. You can see about 80% of them, but the last 20% on the right are cut off. That’s true of every image in the book. Pictures are few and far between, and you still see most of the image, so it really didn’t affect anything, but there’s no excuse for it. I paid for the book; I want to see ALL of it.Still, it’s one of the few marketing books where the pace kept me engaged all the way through. Too many books have tons of “filler”, where they drone on just to add to the page count. Not this book. I have ADHD, so the fact that I read every word should really tell you something about how engaging it was. There are tons of exercises where you brainstorm your own ideas â you read what he says and immediately apply it. That helped immensely. I say go ahead and grab this one.

You can’t get more practical than this.
If you want a proven, practical, step-by-step plan for your marketing, buy this book and do what it says. Period. A lot of marketing books out there are mostly theory and abstract ideas. This one is straightforward, plain as day, and as actionable as it gets. You can start doing the steps in it now. Like, NOW. Couldn’t recommend it more!
