An intergalactic luxury cruise to a distant port is a world unto itself in this piercing short mystery by #1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth.
Traveling faster than light, the transport ship Redundancy is cut off from communication as effectively as an ancient ocean liner. The isolation suits crew member Ace Vance just fine—she’s got nowhere else to be. But when a wealthy passenger turns up dead during a routine voyage, Ace will have to connect with the passengers and crew to uncover the truth. Tragedy will strike again—it’s only a matter of time.
Veronica Roth’s Void is part of The Far Reaches, a collection of science-fiction stories that stretch the imagination and open the heart. They can be read or listened to in one sitting.

A fast paced short story
A nice combination of murder mystery and space mystery. Ace is part of the crew of the Redundancy an intergalactic space ship. This short story moves quickly and holds your interest. A fun read.

Well written and enjoyable short story.
Reading a current, popular SciFi pulp magazine has taught me that writing a good short SciFi story must be quite difficult. Void is indeed excellent. Characters are amazingly well developed – I had a good mental picture of all of them. The story is quick, and very well done. Since it’s also sort of a space-detective theme, it’s a welcome change to all the war & conflict stories out there.

Loss and relativity
Void (Amazon Far Reaches collection) by Veronica RothGenre: science fiction short storyI expected to like this less than I did because I wasn’t in love with Roth’s Divergent series. However, this story was quite good. A murder mystery in space. An amateur sleuth. A story about loss and time and relativity.”They waited for a long stretch of time. Like a tide receding, or a moon creeping across the sky by fractions too tiny to observe in the moment. An eternity, really, depending on how tiny you allowed time to be. A millisecond was nothing compared to an hour, and an hour was nothing compared to an eon. It was all relative in the void.”

Fair Book
This is a good little read. The book is tangentially SciFi, as the story is sort of a tride & true fable of mankind. But the SciFi part os necessary to allow for the story’s plot twist. It’s well-written, easy to read, and overall it’s good. I have not read anything from Roth since the first Divergent book, but I may change that sooner than later.

Good short read
Reminded tons of sci fi novelletes from the 50/60s.Good writing, straight to the point with a good story and using technology (space travel in this case) to make their short philosophical reasonings.

This is a good one!
I haven’t read a ton of Roth’s work, but from what I’ve read she does a great job of creating characters with genuine depth and emotions. There was a lot of that in this story and it kept me going all the way through. I spent the whole second half of the story questioning how things were going to go, so I loved all the subtle twists and turns as the mystery unfolded. This one is definitely my second favorite in the whole batch. Good stuff!

The Far Reaches collection – Book 2
As travelling through space isn’t instantaneous, time elapses differently to a traveller than to those at the places they travel between. We get to follow Ace, a janitor on the freight ship Redundancy. On their normally uneventful journeys between Earth and one of it’s colonies, a crime happens. Ace more or less takes it upon herself to figure out what has happened.A great little who dunnit set in a sci-fi environment.

Space short story
An ok short story, last few pages are the best. Their is a good life lesson/moral at the end. 3 stars.

Trata-se de um assassinato ocorrido dentro da nave Redundancy e que funcionários comuns da limpeza buscam desvendar esse crime. Apesar de curto, achei bem interessante o enredo. Vale a leitura.
Andy Raff –
Easy read, a nice bit of hard scifi and a slightly noir detective story with a likable character and some cool things to do with time dilation. Very much enjoyed it.

Good short story. Love when authors can write a fully formed, tangible, emotional story in the span of a few pages.

I am a fan of Veronica Roth’s writing and she didn’t disappoint me with this story. She always makes her stories interesting and different from the crowd. I look forward to her next story.

This was a really cool story from one of my absolute favourite authors. I’ve not read a space murder mystery before, but as always, Veronica Roth pulled it off.
