Wild Learning answers a call in the educational community for practical, easy-to-implement activities that bring core curriculum out of the classroom and into the outdoors. Outdoor learning has risen in popularity in recent years, and it has tremendous benefits. Being outside is healthier, helps children form a strong connection to the natural world, supports a variety of learning styles, increases engagement and motivation, and improves mental health. This book gives teachers practical activities that they can immediately implement, and helps educators overcome common barriers to outdoor instruction. These activities can be done in common outdoor spaces that are accessible to teachers in all school settings, and they are adaptable to their current curriculum―not an extra thing to try to fit into their day.

A must have book for getting kids out of the classroom and into nature
I learned about this book in a teacher professional development day that I did and I ordered it immediately upon returning home. It’s shares lots of great ideas on how to modify tasks that kids have to do into things that will get them out of the classroom and into the school yard while at the same time keeping them on track. I’ve very satisfied with this purchase.

I got our copy from a local bookstore but I have been using the authors reading and math curriculums for years. My daughter LOVES learning with these hands on nature lessons for math annd reading. This book is a great resource for varied grade levels.

Packed Full of Inspiration and Ideas
Excellent resource for both the public school teacher and homeschooler (Iâve been both). My only complaint is itâs not organized very well, so itâs hard to sort my thoughts on when or how to use these different ideas. But I do love all the inspiring ideas given, and the pictures (while not very professional) are helpful in explaining the activities.

Practical Advice for Taking Learning Outside
Numerous studies have shown that children benefit from spending time outdoors. Unfortunately, it is often difficult to find time to get students outside given the numerous other constraints that many public school teachers face. I love this book for its practical solutions to this problem. Itâs often easy to take a science lesson outside- itâs harder to find new and innovative ways to incorporate outside learning into the other core subjects. I recommend this book for any educator (public school, private school, homeschool) looking to get their students learning outside on a regular basis.

Not the right book for rural kids
I am not knocking this book as I see the importance in the content. This was just not the correct book for my child. Everything in it is geared towards inter city children and the content is not very useful for my situation.
