Good book, the letters get ripped quickly and easily by children so I’m not sure why they made the cover so easily destroyable. The book would be great for a collector or something though.

Traditional Little Red Riding Hood
I bought this book for my 5 year old granddaughter for Christmas. The story is the classic version, and the illustrations are beautiful. You cannot go wrong with this version of the story of the girl who travels through the forest to see her ailing grandmother and encounters the wolf ! This high quality hard-cover book with thick paper (not glossy) pages should last a long time.

Exquisite
This is an exquisite book. The story itself, well-known to us from our childhoods, is translated from the original and has a few differences from the familiar tale (Little Red Cap is bringing wine to Grandma, for example.) But don’t buy this for the story. Buy it for the illustrations, which you will return to again and again when your brain needs a break from routine.It is surprisingly inexpensive for what is essentially a collectible work of art. The book is beautifully made, and packaged with great care. But be aware that the book’s charms may be better suited to adult than to children. Kids who visit my home go straight to the pop-up books (Robert Sabuda is their favorite) but barely spent a second with this book.

Daniel Egneus is a genius who captures the cutting edge grown-up qualities of the Grimm tale. To call the images beautiful does not go far enough. There is a sensuous, perilous quality that accentuates the themes of the story. This is the Fairy Tale at its best.

Came as expected, romantic artwork I looked at it knowing what I was getting was as described. It is hard cover however the cover is red the artwork on the front is the on the cover slit. But still it’s what I wanted and It’s good enough for my little one if you look the only picture that has blood is the dead wolf which is no different then seeing a dead deer on a car. But that’s me and its written in my opinion for her to understand it at the age if four or older thank you!

Fantastic artwork
We all know the story of Little Red Riding Hood, and this is the traditional story of her and the wolf. The reason to own this book is for the fantastic artwork. I keep picking it up and flipping through the pages. I love to collect sort of “creepy” books to read to my grandchildren (strange, but true), and this is a keeper!!!!

The most notable thing about this edition of Little Red Riding Hood is the illustration value. Each page is a work of art in itself. If it weren’t a self-assessed crime to tear pages out from a book, I would easily use each page as artwork for my home.The story is told in a more authentic voice than typical fairy tales. This coupled with the hauntingly beautiful illustrations has triggered a renewed interest in fables and fairy tales. I especially love the non-commercial approach overall.
